About 45 to 50 percent of people who work in the NFL are white men. About 25 percent of NFL players are white men. 66 percent of all coaches in the NFL are white men. If a team interviews 10 candidates, and 80 are white men, the Rooney Rule is still passed.
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, who in March threatened potential civil action against the NFL over the Rooney Rule, said Wednesday that he has issued an investigative subpoena to the league. Story via @krisrhim1: espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…

The idea that the Rooney Rule pushes unqualified candidates across is just silly. A team can still interview as many white men as they’d like. It just helps some people get their foot in the door, when they might get subconsciously discriminated against without the rule.

NFL stats are US stats of course. It’s interesting given the best of seven format that NHL playoffs is still basically the size of NFL regular season there. It also shows how much a big NFL game dominates US culture.

@RupertE2027 Well every other sin is something you can easily avoid (such as ending a tweet saying “Jesus”) What do you think gay people do when they feel ashamed for who they are? I think this conversation has gone as far as it can go. Have a nice day.

@jacksonkrueger I'm not calling for gay marriage to be illegal, or advocating for them to end their life. I am saying that it is wrong. It is a sin, and they should be ashamed. Just like any other sin. But even though it is a sin... Christ also forgives. So they do have an option. Jesus.

There’s too many people on this app praising bigotry. Pride is called pride because it’s the opposite of shame. Many want LGBT people to feel shameful, which is why pride events became a thing. Plenty of religious people aren’t homophobic, there’s no excuse for bigotry.
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

The Chicago Bulls are waiving guard Jaden Ivey after his recent anti-LGBTQ comments amid several rants on religion and other topics, sources tell ESPN.

@RupertE2027 LGBT youth are 3 times more likely to kill themselves than their peers. Pride is supposed to say that it’s okay to be LGBT, and you shouldn’t feel shameful for it.

@RupertE2027 If you’re gay, there’s 3 ways to live your life, being out and happy. Be closeted and miserable, or kill yourself. So when the argument is that gay people shouldn’t live the first way, that’s why I call it hateful. Because that’s the point of pride nights.

@jacksonkrueger For the previous comment about a majority not thinking it is a sin. You are right. But keep in mind that the majority includes those who don't regular attend. Those who regularly attend mass/church know it to be a sin.

@jacksonkrueger Its a sin bro 💀. Catholic Church comprises 50% of all Christians, and it's official doctrine is that homosexuality is a sin. So i don't know where you are getting this less then majority thing. Calling an action of someone a sin... doesn't mean you hate the person.

@RupertE2027 The majority of Christians don’t believe homosexuality is a sin, only 43 percent do. Also calling pride events wrong is hateful. Saying homosexuality is a sin is obviously hateful towards homosexual people.

@jacksonkrueger If homosexuality is a sin in the eye's of most Christians. Why would they celebrate pride? Did he say anything hateful or is he just calling it wrong?
