This is one of those weird Windows things I noticed for years but could never put into words (always thought it was a monitor issue).
Once I got a Macbook I immediately realized I’ll never be able to edit code on anything else ever again.

Here's a good example of the difference between Windows and macOS font rendering. If you can't tell the difference, or it doesn't bother you, I envy you greatly. You should probably buy a PC instead of a Mac next, if you work with web development.

@rossipedia Lit is great for the specific use case of custom UI elements like a modal. Most of what you need when building UIs though is “localized logic”, like react hooks. For web components I’ve loved using the custom elements api without any shadow dom. Some call this “HTML components”

Q: how did you learn [___], do you have any books to recommend?
A: yeah no I read zero books, it was a blur of obsessive indulgence across hundreds of scattered sources online and experimental coding and then years later I somehow came out the other end knowing a lot about it

It seems like there still isn’t a really great community platform.
Slack and Discord are meant for frequent/real-time messaging, and Slack is outrageously expensive or feature-poor for communities
Forums seem OK, but just OK.
Honestly Bookface (YC) is the best I’ve used.

Reading the @htmx_org essays has been such an illuminating experience for me.
I picked up web dev post-2015 and I think as a result have always had a very client-oriented idea of the web.
