@natashaheenan what helped me was constantly revisiting my overarching plan, which let me see how each bit i was finishing up would fit into place eventually. also (trying to) forgive myself in advance for the inevitable unproductive hours. good luck!!

crawling out of my thesis cave to self-promote. @JordanTchil and i wrote an article together that is out now in @NPEjournal. it began with a conversation we had on a bus, when we wondered who was writing the brochures and reports that made social impact bonds go global

"it should be embarrassing for the union movement & the CFMEU leadership. Its style of unionism—trading serious politics for chest-beating swagger in recent years—doesn’t have much in its intellectual arsenal to counter the dick-swinging bravado of the new breed of right wingers"

@abcperth as the text i just sent in stated, year 12 students who are deciding where to go to university are going to be turned away by cuts to social sciences. the young people i teach in pols classes care immensely about social injustice. the measures will slash student demand

@LianSinclair I found otter.ai to be pretty good. you have to go through and listen back to check accuracy, but it usually wasn't too bad, especially if people were using good microphones

Every politician who voted against raising Jobseeker above the poverty line should be forced to go on live television and read out each of these testimonies from single mums contemplating the Jobseeker cut - and then justify their vote.

New #SocialImpactBond paper with @jacobroom (& others) on multiple temporalities of mobile policies in @SageGSP. We apply @outtaKimbo & @nik_theodore's observations about the persistently slow implementation that follows fast policy mobilisation journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11…

Huge congratulations to the Lab’s economist-in-residence @garethjbryant on his DECRA success! Gareth will be examining how governments can reimagine public investment. Work that is as vital now as it has ever been.
