Bryn Chainey weaves his own personal trauma with elements of Welsh folklore in his atmospheric and esoteric feature directorial debut, RABBIT TRAP. The film features immersive sound design and striking cinematography, harmonizing its haunting landscapes and earthy sounds into something wholly unique. Less horror and more unnervingly atmospheric in tone, I found it equal parts frustrating and alluring. While many may be drawn to it for Dev Patel, the true standout is Jade Croot, whose creepy performance is utterly mesmerizing.
