Interpreters, you have a duty to ensure you are using correct signs for black/asian deaf clients, I’ve seen 2 interpreters using the incorrect/racist sign for Africa and it’s 🤮

@helen_maric Glad you enjoyed!! However not all deaf can sign and some can only rely on lipreading and the face mask situation really doesn' help so please keep an open mind when trying to communicate 🤟🏼

Brilliant! Thank you Jade! I can recall so many times in my career when knowing these signs would have been really useful, our complacency should stop, midwives could easily be taught these signs to make our care more accessible....

The amount of head shakes I've had from people wearing a mask when they have tried to talk to me and I've had to tell them I'm deaf! Feeling like they are brushing me off/unimportant 🙄 DEAF AWARENESS COURSES- are absolutely so important, even more so now!!

Things that are embarrassing: 1. Being a cop 2. Having 🇬🇧 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 in your name 3. Being part of the ee dee el (not typing it bc then there’s gonna be mongs in my mentions 4. Supporting the bunker nonce and little miss “i dont like geographical names”

@LouiseDeafAware I'm absolutely dreading this as I use public transport everyday for work! It's proper worried me now 😭 and I can't rely on sign alone I need to be able to lipread!

To all the teachers and others who told me I would never pass my exams-I passed every single one. To those who told me I could never get a job-I have! I read this in the NDCS magazine and it resonated with me, as I'm sure it does with many. We can do anything! @MrLukeChristian
