Rubbish. You cannot claim that we had capacity when we have stopped elective surgery, managed ICU patients in theatres/wards with staff who do not have ICU training looking after them. We have created capacity by accepting reduced standards and safety @BACCNUK

Stephen Powis says NHS capacity has "always been there" for surge of coronavirus patients. "We always had spare capacity - there were always large amounts of intensive care beds available if needed." He says the public must continue to comply with social distancing measures.
