Finally watched Ek Din with my brother and cousins for a night show yesterday and the whole lead up was pure chaos in the most fun way. We booked tickets at the last minute and had to settle for a Hindi version since there were no Tamil shows nearby. And I was the only one who actually understood Hindi. Everyone else had to survive on subtitles😅 Add to that the “slow and boring” reviews floating around…expectations were basically zero. I somehow convinced everyone to go just for Sai Pallavi and the Japan visuals and we walked in with nothing to lose. But the moment Sai Pallavi appeared on screen, everything changed. It just clicked. Sai Pallavi as Meera felt so alive, refreshing, effortless, natural, and full of emotion. The way she portrayed love, heartbreak, confusion, longing… it all felt so real. That kind of emotional control and the range she has🔥 No surprise Aamir Khan calls her the finest and best actor in the country today. Junaid Khan did a solid job as Dino - the shy, slightly awkward nerd. He has definitely improved compared to before, especially in bringing out that innocence. Though yeah, when it came to intense emotional scenes, there’s still some room to grow. The chemistry between them was soft and subtle. It worked but honestly could’ve been explored more. The comedy bits landed well though. Big credit to the director and writers for handling the storyline sensitively, especially not making Dino’s time with Meera feel uncomfortable or creepy despite the premise. They stayed on the right side of that line throughout. Music and background score ♥️ Songs blended nicely with the visuals. Editing felt a bit choppy in parts of the first half, and some of the handheld shots during the Sapporo Festival scenes were noticeably shaky. Overall, it gave me strong K-drama vibes like a 2 hour version of one. Simple, emotional and easy to connect with. Definitely worth a watch 👍 PS - My cousins actually ended up liking the movie, all of them. They were even asking me why I downplayed it so much based on the reviews. One thing my brother kept pointing out was how whenever Sai Pallavi is on screen, it almost makes you question if others even know how to act. She just becomes the character like she’s living it for real and feeling every bit of it to the core. #EkDin #SaiPallavi
