I have today made appointments in the Executive Office of the Governor following the establishment of positions by the Mombasa County Public Service Board, in line with the provisions of the law. Mr. Maurice Ogeta has been appointed to serve as Advisor, Security Affairs in the County Government of Mombasa. This appointment is informed by his many years of experience and deep institutional knowledge built at local, regional and global levels, including his service to our late Founding Party Leader, H. E. Raila Odinga, C.G.H. I have also appointed Ken Ambani as my Advisor on Creative Arts. His wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience in the sector will be instrumental as we work to revive and grow the creative industry in Mombasa for the benefit of our artists, youth and the wider economy.

Opened the High-Level Water Sector Conference hosted in Mombasa by the Council of Governors and Gatsby Africa bringing together Governors, CECMs, and WSPs to strengthen coordination, review progress, and deepen collaboration in delivering clean, affordable water for all. In Mombasa, water security is central to our Mwanzo Mpya agenda - from hydro-mapping and deep aquifer exploration to smart metering and non-revenue water reduction.

Kenya has endured the pain of tribalism and division. H.E. Raila Odinga, C.G.H. taught us that our diversity is our strength - not a weapon. The best legacy we can honour is a united nation where no child is judged by their tribe or faith. Let us come together, reject hate, and build one Kenya, one destiny.

He was more than a Party Leader - he was my political father. Through my ten years in Parliament, Baba was a steady hand of guidance, a voice of reason, and a wellspring of courage. It is deeply fitting that as part of his final state honors, he makes his last turn in the House where his wisdom, conviction, and love for Kenya shaped generations. Today, we mourn not just a leader, but the soul of our political conscience.

Staff of the County Government of Mombasa together with hundreds of residents streamed into the Office of the Governor in Treasury Square today to sign the condolence book in honour of our departed Party Leader and national icon, H.E. Raila Amolo Odinga. This outpouring of love and solidarity reflects the deep respect and admiration that Mombasa holds for Baba - a man whose lifelong struggle for democracy, justice and unity transformed our nation. The condolence book remains open at the Governor’s Office, Treasury Square, until Saturday, October 18th at 12:00 p.m. for all who wish to pay their final respects.
