March is #Seagrass Awareness Month. As my colleague @StacyScientist shares, these unique ecosystems absorb carbon dioxide from the ocean, helping to reduce the impacts of climate change.
Pew Environment@pewenvironment

The ocean has absorbed 25% of all the carbon dioxide we have emitted into the atmosphere—but protecting coastal wetlands like seagrasses can help. Watch as @StacyScientist explains the importance of these unique ecosystems 👇

Wildlife crossings 🐻🐾 Definition: Bridges, underpasses, and culverts to connect wildlife habitat, helping animals and vehicles avoid each other. How well they work: One CO study found they reduced collisions by 90% from 2015 to 2020. pew.org/4447oi5

West Virginia’s Indian Run is critical to the surrounding ecosystem’s health and fish migration. Locals are working to replace culverts with a bridge to allow the river to flow freely and reduce the risk that the road could wash away during a flood.

But that's not the best news! The best news 🎉 is these 5,600 acres CAN MOVE THIS YEAR in the Farm Bill, a must-pass piece of legislation 🏛 with jurisdiction over Eastern forests. The most recent Farm Bill designated wilderness acres in the Cherokee National Forest of Tennessee.
