Just as in King David’s day, there is a King in exile who is gathering around Him a company of people who are in distress, in debt, and discontented. He is training and preparing them for the day when He shall return to take his rightful place.
“Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all CONDEMN the guilt and power of sin.” (Rom. 8:3)
Jesus didn’t come to condemn people. He came to condemn the guilt and sin INSIDE of people.
You see, He wants to free you.
Scripture recounts how God’s people often turned to man-made ideas, alliances, technology, and other religions to save them. There is no record of these methods succeeding.
In the end salvation from their trauma only came when they returned to the Most High God.
Scripture reveals that there are many gods in the world. They are created by the minds and hands of men. They promise to deliver and provide, but they cannot keep their promise.
Thus, Jesus is the One True God. The only one who is true to his word and has power to fulfill it.
Oh, that we may learn to HATE sin and Love righteousness.
Not the sin that we perceive in others, but the sin that we so desire in our own lives. May we learn to hate that sin and fall in love with righteousness.
Scripture declares that Jesus hardly had any interest in fixing social issues.
He only took issue with the root cause: Our love-affair with sin.
At the root of every societal problem was a person’s unflinching love for sin.
He came to deliver from that.
Scripture teaches that when you become a Christian you become a slave to Christ. This means we forfeit our right to have an opinion on sin.
God defines sin, and our opinion on the matter holds no weight in the Kingdom of God.
Scripture speaks of nations that become powerful and pleasure-crazy:
“That’s why his cities are unsafe—the murder rate skyrockets
and every plan to improve things falls to pieces.
It is because My people are hell-bent on leaving ME.” Hosea 11
There is no scripture that tells a person to: “do what you feel led to do.”
This phrase is likely just a modern Christian cover-up for the phrase:
“do what feels right to you.”
The Bible teaches that a person born with a bent towards perverted sexual desires for the opposite sex is no less sinful than a person born with perverted sexual desires for the same sex.
It teaches that you can be born with a bent towards certain sin, but Jesus remedies this.
Scripture teaches that Jesus does not renovate a person’s life.
It declares He REDEEMS.
This word means you get the original back without any impurities.
...As if it were brand new.
The Bible warns that the Blood of Jesus has the power to cover every sin, but it does not automatically cover every sin...It only covers the sin a person admits and turns from.
This is good news, because you can be set free if you want to be.
(Galatians 5:19-21)
Scripture declares that “popular religious sayings” should be checked carefully against the Word of God, for they are almost certain to be wrong.
Jesus was a master at this.
Scripture declares that anyone can be blessed and fulfilled in life. But it only comes to those who submit to God’s leadership, and obey what He says to do.
Blessing comes with this price: You no longer get to do what you feel is best.
The final book of the Bible reveals that Jesus is a Warrior King who came disguised as a quiet and gentle man.
Cloaked in the disguise of human meekness, this King snuck into our world and was utterly brutal to our Enemy, sin and death.
Nothing is normal. Everything is wrong and everyone is wrong until made right by the redeeming work of Christ and the effective operation of the Holy Spirit.
