Deeply irresponsible.
We're in a climate crisis.
This is such a terrible start.

It’s the honour of my life to be Leader of the Labour Party.
I will be a leader for every region and nation in this great country, and this Party will be unashamedly Labour in our priorities and in the decisions we take.
Together, we will set Britain on a new path.

I am a freelance contruibutor to a number of outlets. I am responsible for what I say, not those who I work for. I make this apology freely because I now recognize I got this badly wrong. It is on me. I also apologize to @SkyNews and @TimesRadio for the unwarrantd criticism they have recieved for my own mistake.

AN APOLOGY
I was seriously wrong and insensitive in one of the several media appearances I made yesterday in reaction to the death of Ann Widdecombe. I got the timing and tone of my initial word portrait of her wrong.
Of course I shared, and share, the horror at her murder and the respect for her remarkable and feisty political career. I also know that many people loved her for her subsequent showbiz stardom. Her untimely death is a horrible thing.
My mistaken view was that in the context of rolling news coverage, I was being asked to contribute as an obituarist who has known her and interacted with her since the 1980s. This approach was premature. At no point was I expressing my personal feelings about her, that's not what I do. I was discussing her life in the round, based on the record of known facts and what she has said about herself, along with some recollections of our personal interactions. My choice of words on the spur of the moment was clumsy. I did not intend to offend though obviously I did.

I woke up to the upsetting and worrying news - In Northern Ireland, they burned a model of a mosque with a sign stating "Secure our borders and end Islam." The police failed to stop it.
This is deeply offensive, Islamophobic, and frightening to Muslims living in Northern Ireland.
We are constantly under attack in the UK and nothing is being done. Andy Burnham - we need solutions.

Has @RupertLowe10 apologised yet or still just living the vibe that Elon got Joe to have him on his podcast? Ps prediction - he will implode faster than Farage

Today in Parliament, I raised a point of order following disgraceful remarks made by Rupert Lowe MP on a podcast.

Ann Widdecombe was one of the Greatest Britons.
Uncompromising and patriotic with a moral code that would never budge no matter the political trends of the day.
She was an anti-woke crusader before the word woke was invented.
But I want to talk about Ann on a personal level.
From the moment we met in the ITV greenroom during her Strictly Come Dancing sensation, Widdy became an unlikely friend.
When I launched GB News, she was an early signing and agreed for her segment to be called Big Widdy Style because, believe it or not, she had a wicked and naughty sense of humour.
I will remember her for being unfailingly loyal and believing in justice and due process above anything else.
When I was unfairly cancelled, she was one of the only stars of GB News to publicly speak out against the decision.
And, when I relaunched, she was an early guest of Dan Wootton Outspoken.
I always loved being in her company.
Already Sly News has branded her “divisive” today in their obituary.
There was nothing divisive about her.
But, yes, Widdy knew what was required to save this country, hence her defection from the Tories to what is now Reform UK.
That battle just got a bit harder today.

Notwithstanding obvious political differences my wife and I were deeply shocked at the terrible end to the life of #AnnWiddicombe with whom I served in parliament for many years and both of us frequently met in television studios. She was a unique political figure who believed strongly in her political views and expressed them most eloquently. May she rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of the death of Ann Widdecombe.
She was a true patriot. A deeply Christian lady with unbending principles.
Her stiff upper lip was matched with an equally big heart and sympathy for others.
She was an ardent unionist and stood shoulder to shoulder with me over Northern Ireland.
I loved Ann and will greatly miss her.
