It's clear that government funding cuts in the first instance, & rejections of extra funding in the second, have contributed to the severity of the fire catastrophe. Think of that the next time you hear someone extol the virtues of a budget surplus & low government spending

@mirandadevine I'm a CC sceptic too, or was. In rural NSW, at best, we had one day over 40° in Dec. This Dec we had 6! As a 24yr firefighter I never saw anything like these fires, nor has dad, & greens don't stop US hazard reducing, yet it's burning. Trees dad planted as a kid have died.

This is an environmental DISASTER and needs integrated Federal and State action. @ScottMorrisonMP and @GladysB the response to this is on you. Please RT if you agree we want to see a united, swift response. A bare beginning has to be reduction of water sucked out upstream.
