I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up. What’s most clear to me tonight is that this is just the beginning, that Americans across this country, no matter their title or party, are ready to be heard. I believe that history will show we rose to meet this moment. It will show we did not let the chaos and division go unanswered. It will show that when our president chose to spread lies and sow fear, we chose to come together, to work together, and to rise together.

@mangereman @afneil I guess that is kind of the point I'm trying to get to - not capitalism per se, but profit-motive principles being applied to structures without enough nuance and compassion. OFSTED would be another example. I'm not trying to say anything definitive here though, just thinking

@jamescmitchell @afneil Which just shows the failing of socialism. The post office held the monopoly on post in this country for many years. There was no free market to control competition and government are too inept to keep things under control. It’s textbook socialism in fact.

@wainy27 @afneil While greed is undoubtedly in the mix for all of us, I think you can get to a dangerously cynical place. Anyone who's worked for an organisation they identify with, alongside people they care about, knows the value of generosity and cameraderie. Something the Post Office lost
