Really enjoyed Mia Hansen-Love’s ‘Bergman Island’, and was struck by the narrative parallels with Muriel Box’s ‘Passionate Stranger’ (1957), which was screened in Bristol last week. Could it be that Hansen-Love knows this classic but uncelebrated romantic comedy?

Have just watched a Blu-ray copy of Visconti’s 1963 3-hour historical epic, ‘The Leopard’. So rich in visual detail, virtually every frame looking like a c.19 painting, that I feel like I need to rewatch it immediately to explore the images more fully.
