You can be obsessed with fitness, objectively healthy and still be a miserable twat. I know because I used to fear seed oils, food dyes and plastic bottles like they were poison. If your version of health steals your happiness, it’s not health…it’s control dressed up as self-care. Real health makes your life bigger, not smaller.

I’m a man, I don’t have a uterus. But after 6 years coaching women and studying female physiology I will say this: “You’re eating too much” might be true for some. But not for everyone. Hormones, stress and perimenopause change how the body operates. Sometimes women don’t need more restriction, they need more understanding. Signed, a man.

Imagine a world where after 6pm social media platforms closed every night. People instead went out for walks, worked out, cooked meals & ate them with their family & friends, read books, played games. More real life socialising. Earlier bed times. It would solve so many issues.

A little reminder: someone who’s genuinely happy with their own life won’t have the time, energy or desire to speak negatively about yours. The boos always come from the cheap seats. You’re the one on stage and they’re using up precious time to watch. The best part is, you can’t see them or hear them because there’s too many people cheering.

So many people get the fleeting feeling of “I want to improve my health and lifestyle”. So few people actually act on it. Why? Because the moment vanishes and they then fall back into listening to their default feeling of “It’s too much effort”. You’ll never get anywhere or achieve anything worthwhile if your life is governed by your feelings. Nothing changes if nothing changes.

The world today is so overstimulated, so sedated, so sedentary and so overfed that basic effort now looks like high performance. - You exercise for 30 minutes every day and people call you obsessed. - You eat healthy whole foods 90% of the time and people call you boring. - You read books instead of aimlessly scrolling on social media and people think you’re a nerd. - You drink non-alcoholic beers and leave the party early and people call you anti-social. It’s easy standing out in today’s world.

When life gets tough, the gym membership should not be the first thing that goes. Or gets abandoned. Continuing to prioritise your health, keeping up with exercising and eating health food should always remain a top priority, regardless of what’s going on in your life. Your physical and mental health are depending on it.

If you are on any kind of health journey: 1. You are going to mess up 2. You are going to miss workouts 3. You are going to overindulge 4. You are going to take steps backwards 5. You are going to have tough days 6. You are going to want to give up I promise you this, the only time you will ever fail is if you quit. Keep going, future you is counting on it.

How social media works today: Person A: “Hey here’s a different perspective to consider on a subject for you that’s backed by science” Person B: “That goes against my personal beliefs on the subject. You’re wrong. You’re an idiot. Educate yourself. Blocked”

If you are in your 20s, 30s, 40s you will never be in a better position to take care of your health. It will never be easier than now. Your body will never be more capable. Yet people continue to put off eating healthy food, exercising, prioritising sleep and managing stress. They continue to neglect this window thinking they’ll be ok. Then suddenly the heart attack at 50, the Alzheimer’s at 70 and the loss of independence at 75 comes which all started back when they were 30.

The people who make things happen in life are the ones who don’t overthink or overanalyse everything. They don’t wait for the “right” moment. They jump. Then they adjust their course along the way. They’re making progress whilst everyone else is overthinking, researching, procrastinating and hesitating. Success in any field goes to the people who are taking imperfect action. Never to those waiting to take perfect action.

No one ever regrets failing. People regret the things they don’t try. No one ever gets to the end of life wishing they had less epic stories to tell. People wish they had more great stories to tell.

The day you stop giving into your feelings is the day you’ll start to make changes happen in your life. 🧠: “I don’t want to workout” Do it anyway 🧠: “I can’t be bothered to cook a healthy meal” Do it anyway 🧠: “I don’t want to stop scrolling on my phone before bed Do it anyway One day at a time.

The same applies to your health and fitness. You don’t need another “new” habit to try and form. You need to pick one thing and stick to doing that consistently for 3-4 weeks. Once you’ve done that, then add on something else. Mastering one basic thing > trying to do lots of tiny things at once. Focus more on the major, less on the minor.

Reading self-improvement books and listening to podcasts feels productive. You feel like you’re growing by understanding new ideas. But if 5 books later you’re still the same person what’s the point? Feeding off hope that one more book will finally change everything? You don’t need more ideas. You need one to put into practice consistently. Take one principle you know and commit to it for a month. The life you want is hidden behind the action you keep postponing.

Stop putting your health off. Stop letting other trivial things take up your time instead of it. You can have 99 problems but as soon as you have a health problem then you only have 1. A health problem. What you do in your 20s, 30s & 40s will dictate how you live in your 50s, 60s & 70s. Choose wisely or you’re in for a very rough ride.

The reality is, those who judge are too scared to chase their own dreams. You can’t let others rob you of yours. Your future is yours to create, no one else’s to control. You have to be bold because other’s opinions won’t matter when you’re living the life they only wish they had the courage to build.
