Pleased to see HM Govt is keeping up momentum on my Clinical Trials Review, including the ‘double-doubling’ ambition. MHRA is performing much better, moving to a national approach to contracting and costing, and the number of industry-sponsored trials in the UK is growing again.

The full government response to the @jamesosh review has been published. It emphasises our commitment to maintaining a rich and balanced research portfolio that delivers impactful #research to improve health for patients and the public. gov.uk/government/pub…

‘Until now, the approach has primarily been to ask for forgiveness, rather than permission. I love my job but today was hard: telling a patient who will die of his cancer that I can’t offer a promising clinical trial because an amendment has been stuck with the MHRA since March. This is not good enough and I wonder if my MP would like to come to my clinic and explain?
