@matthh Haha, $79 deposit, I never rented anything w/ a deposit but remember those days well! My first video rental store had all the rad cult films but was the most expensive membership in town. I had no choice - they were only one that accepted my high school ID. Everyone was jealous.

@jamessime When I turned 13 in 1983, my folks got me what I asked for - a video membership at Camelot Records in the mall in Daytona Beach. Bakshi’s LotR was the first VHS I rented. At the time, I had to scrounge up $79 for the rental deposit, and $3.15 for the 3-day rental itself. Magic!

Finally completed this VHS set. Been waiting years and years to rewatch until I had the first one. Still got my total beast of a vintage VCR (Toshiba W614) hooked up and ready to go.

This photo of Darwyn Cooke says a lot to me. He saved that look for the people he really loved. I still find it so sad after all these years to think he is really gone. He was just such a staple of my day-to-day life, always coming over in the morning and having long conversations, always the last few in the bar at night, and then he was gone, that quick. His last few months, it was just impossible to get into the head space he was in because he shut ... , I am guessing he didn't want to stress his friends out so much. He is missed by a group of us in his inner circle daily and is always the topic of a conversation or two when together. He lives on for us in that way, and the rest of the world has his art to do that for them. He made his mark in so many lives and I truly don't think he fully understood that, which kept him humble.

@MysticalMe337 Historic. As a fan of Dr. Strange comics since the 1970s, @jedmackay plus the amazing @LeeGarbett & @marc_ferreira and incredible @PasqualFerry gave us readers an unforgettable and truly once-in-a-lifetime run on the character(s). Especially Clea. Forever thankful for it.

Shout out to the GOAT Jed MacKay though. He reintroduced Clea, brought back WAND, created a bunch of awesome villains, explored the War of the Seven Spheres, and made a Strange book all about him and his supporting cast, one that embraces the magic instead of shying away from it!

@jamessime I LOVE! Her 60s curls suits her so much no matter what era 😖, I love everything about your art and you execute it perfectly! I drop Clea art like crazy cause she’s so beautiful and unique in terms of lore and character, and you can’t go wrong with her signature circle patterns!

@jpalmiotti This obviously happens, some people just like to collect things & the industry does like to cater to that. But this is totally not my experience at my store.

A retailer said two me today" I am not convinced people are even reading these books, they are buying them for the covers" and this hurt my heart. What do you think?
