I think the main thing AI has taught me, through all the time savings it brings, is that I’m not a very interesting person Faced with a surplus of free time, I realize I don’t really have hobbies besides content consumption I’m forced to conclude that I don’t have very deep friendships, and am not a core member of any particular community I’m not very cultured, I’m finding, and don’t have abiding interests in art or literature or history or much that isn’t directly related to my work I have a work-centric life, in other words. AI pulls back the curtain on just how impoverished such an existence is, by disabusing me of its necessity Given the freedom I’ve always said I wanted, I’m at a loss as to what to do with it, except plow myself even harder into work, thus exacerbating the lesson There’s nothing more confronting to humans than freedom

The lie that all jobs are a jail sentence is ruining an entire generation. A 400k a year job, for a non executive, is impossible to get. More than the average doctor makes. More than 99% of small business owners. You gotta hold on to that job for dear life. 1% salary.
ₕₐₘₚₜₒₙ@hamptonism

This might be a hot take but I know someone at meta who makes $400k a year and is quite literally capped at that number for life - likely will never get a promotion strong enough to change that. 9-5 until they’re what, 50? This is not living. No matter the salary.

You feel uneasy when someone says "that's adulthood, suck it up like the rest of us," because your natural instincts reject low-agency & defeated mindsets. You feel discomfort inside and reject the notion in your mind. Something inside you knows adopting that attitude is fatal

@Myrddin_Rhodes 100% happy to discuss. It was very heavy on editing and using AI. But required crazy storyboarding.

There’s a price for everything and nothing is guaranteed in this world. I just found out my old bodybuilding coach has end stage kidney failure at 54 years old. He’s a great and caring dude but after a few months of working with him he wanted me to take T3 despite proper thyroid function. I ended up getting kidney pain and a slight infection that required antibiotics. I dropped him almost immediately after that. I’ve been hard on my body, I did a few cycles in my early 20s. At the time it improved my life significantly but I don’t think they were ever necessary for any reason whatsoever. I have no idea if given the chance he would change some things. He won countless competitions, his house is decorated in trophies and broadswords, but also has a 14 year old daughter that is his world. I’m not blaming his career. I have no way of making that judgement, but you have to wonder. Google tells me he can still live 15 years with this disease. We will see. I wish him love. Never forget that everything is always bleeding into the next thing. Everything is black and white. Everything has two sides to it.
