@Ianjholmes @CJPhillips1982 Ian, I can assure you that you are a clueless Wolly. If you think this is on Maher not wanting to tie down his best and most valuable asset then you really are as stupid as your picture suggests! It’s the circus above. Educate yourself and try again.

@henrywinter Any business run this badly for so long will eventually catch a cold. Moyes papered over the massive cracks. But they’ve been there for years. It starts at the very top. The club needs new ownership and a proper business model fitting with the modern game.

What happens if West Ham go down? To Fernandes, Summerville and Bowen? To Nuno? To balance of power between Sullivan and Kretinsky, to LS gates and to revenue including the massive hit to TV money? #WHUFC fans - and their excellent FAB - been asking these questions and more 1/2

West Ham United’s impending relegation is the result of years of mismanagement and slow decline. The patchwork football club, in the 60k makeshift stadium overtaken by dozens of better run, historically smaller clubs with barely half that. Run with idiotic, short term thinking, by a chairman who knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Loyal fans cast aside and treated with total disdain. No plan off the pitch, a confused mess on it, born from a total lack of professionalism and planning. Fighting relegation most seasons, despite regularly spending hundreds of millions (via payday loans) on old players recommended by the owners’ mates. A few memorable seasons with David Moyes papering over the huge cracks in the poorly hidden running track. A decade after we left the Boleyn Ground, WHU has never felt more lost. You’ll see few highlight reels from the club for the upcoming anniversary: for the most part, it’s been a torrid decade in the bowl. If relegation rids us of Sullivan, so be it. But with 100m of debt (how?) and double that owed in player purchases, it could be a long, long time before we’re at this level again. We’re about to find out just how many clubs we’ve fallen behind. #whufc #NomoreBS

@Dadsourjobtv We have the leagues: worst ownership, worst recruitment, worst stadium. GSB have ripped this club apart. Until Sullivan has gone nothing changes. Hopefully relegation will do that and we can build properly. With a process and pattern. Like Bournemouth and Brighton.

IF West Ham go down, then we'll be there for a good couple of seasons. Wouldn't surprise me if we are in a relegation race trying to avoid League One. The team will be entirely stripped of any quality left. Bowen, Diouf, Summerville, Fernandes, Todibo, Areola, Soucek, Wan Bissaka, Mavropanos, Wilson, Taty, Pablo, Traore, Magassa will ALL be sold. As it stands, the championship team will be. @AllAtSeaFanzine The club is getting gates of 8k, the revenue that generates, the owners won’t be worried what league we are in. Rebuild the ground, get the club on an even financial footing (could take many more years) then either sell it or put more money in. Promotions just a bonus to them.

Big disappointment tonight. The players have simply not performed there. A big summer of change ahead in many ways. Tricky balance to not throwing away all the good that's been built. But it's clear a club of this size can't continue to be happy with 6th/7th anymore.

@westhamtransfer Weird tweet. We are 17th. Apart from Burnley and wolves at home, every game is tough. Thats why we are 17th. No one’s rolling over to give us 3 points on our run in. Any win however it comes between now and end is massive how we get them, who cares.

@COYIronscom Everyone needs to take a reality check. We are where we are because we aren’t a very good side. We aren’t going to win every game if we could we wouldn’t be 17th! A point away at palace is a decent result. Each week it will take a turn as results come in.

On reflection, last night wasn’t a terrible result for us. Can’t help but feel disappointed however that we didn’t really go for it and the front four all had underwhelming games. Draw again Saturday & Spurs beat Wolves, we’re back in the bottom three with just 4 games left.

@henrywinter It’s down to academies and systems. If Defoe came through now he’d be a winger same for Owen. No. 9 is a past position in the supposedly expert minds of academies. They breed skillfull ball carriers, pace, trickery. The art of a true striker is gone. System is floored.

30 years ago, Terry Venables could leave out Ian Wright for Euro 96 because he had Alan Shearer, Teddy Sheringham, Les Ferdinand and Robbie Fowler at centre-forward. Elite options at No 9 now? Basically, Harry Kane. Ollie Watkins, Dominic Solanke, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Danny Welbeck are below Kane’s level. Liam Delap needs to get the upward trajectory of his career back on track again. A “minor issue” benching/resting Kane will always be a major problem for England. FA coaches at St George’s Park debate why there are so few 9s emerging. Focus on 10s and wide attackers in academies, more teams playing only one centre-forward in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 and cage styles leading to “ballers” not poachers are all reasons discussed. Line-leading skills, back-to-goal expertise, finishing prowess need re-developing. Because Kane is 32 and succession planning is required. #ENG

@CJPhillips1982 Put it this way…. They’re not reaching it via any other cup. And the same fans moaning would be the ones moaning if they get there via the play offs. (As we should have gone up automatically) ultimately some fans are just a little bit dim.

@westhamnetwork Spot on @Carra23! We aren’t winning every game until the end of the season. 4 points from Fulham away, city home and Villa away is fine. Beat wolves and we will be in a much better position.

“It’s huge for them (Wolves game). They shouldn’t get too disheartened (loss to Villa). They’ve lost at one of the toughest places to go in the Premier League, and have been in great form. When you’re near the bottom, you’re not playing well every week." "Forget today happened and focus on the next couple of weeks because that game (v Wolves) is absolutely huge. You look at Tottenham, away at Sunderland – not easy – you look at Leeds (away to Man United) and Forest have Villa. They could be in a healthier position." “Whatever end of the table you are, you can’t get too disheartened with losing a couple of games. It’s happening to everybody, right throughout the Premier League, and it’s really important West Ham don’t dwell on that too long." 🗣️Jamie Carragher on West Ham

Where exactly is AWB playing? He seems to never be anywhere close to the RB position. Bowen is doing all the work there and as a result isn’t getting forward

@SUFCRootsHall Really need to question the mentality of this group. Why can they get up for a big game and be so good like they were tuesday and saturday but be so poor against the worse sides? Is Maher not emphasising the importance of games like these to the players?

@Olly_Hawk How often did you see Fergie with a pen and pad? Moyes? No chance. So full of self importance. While old school football people can watch a game and make changes by what they see. He won’t be in for as long as those guys. He’ll have arthritis in his wrists!

I’m sure mid-game notes are important, but at what point does Liam Rosenior become so obsessed by constant scribbles that he misses big chunks of the actual match? Feels like he tries too hard to look busy on the touchline & smart in interviews... #CFC x.com/youngjohne8776…
