Okay “likened to Chernobyl” is fucking funny, but it does feel crazy for the UK to bother with such large solar farm installations when the UK:
1) gets so little sun
2) has quite significant land use constraints

That is an inherently beautiful building, but the problem with this discourse as everyone knows. is that true beauty is about whats INSIDE. This typical Melbourne townhouse might seem 'ugly' but inside it are three NHS workers who have migrated to Australia, which IS beautiful.

When you walk along this beautiful building you find that a lot of the offices are filled by government departments (at least when I was there a few years ago).

My concern would have been about how this would impact party discipline (which I view as important in a parliamentary democracy).
Turns out number of legislators doesn't really correlate to party discipline - at least according to Claude and some old papers.

Australia has one of the highest voter to legislator ratios in the OECD, so I can see why the govt was thinking about doing this. MPs closer to the voters. Geographically smaller electoral divisions.
But I can see why Albo killed it because what a thankless political fight to pick.
