Reggie Jackson just got banned from mention in Florida schools.  Only when you ignore or try to rewrite the history, can you say that the playing field was level and that black Americans couldn’t compete or that the difficulties that many face are entirely of their own making. The historical boot on the neck was to insure that the slave-descendant (specifically!!) remained at the bottom of society. We see the consequences to this day, which have weakened certain communities and America, as a whole. But many Americans would have the legacy of racist discrimination be stronger than our country. “Still, I rise.”
