It’s exactly the same as when players say “always followed this club when I was younger” and things of that nature. They just say it so the “fight for the badge” crowd give a cheer. It’s pandering. Obviously some difference when the person is local and grew up with it.

History means 0 to the players & managers, the sooner fans realise that the sooner they’ll stop sounding thick. Why would a manager today give a fuck about any of that. When a club has a good history they say it in an arrival statement to butter up fans and give a good impression

Guy who could loan to a club competing in europa or conference league/fetch a £15m transfer fee “yeah I’ll stay at Bristol City” please let’s be serious here. Manchester United are bad a selling players but even they can get a good fee for a 6’6 dominant young shot stopper
