Throughout August, teams have posted a JAM "fuzz target" that receive challenging state transitions to ensure implementations conform to JAM spec. The implementations pass or fail each test case. If all clients produce the same state root, they pass Milestone 1. 2/ When testnet? Testnet won’t go live until Milestone 2 is complete. Why? Milestone 1 only tests runtime execution — not networking. Milestone 2 will add peer-to-peer protocols. Only then can a proper JAM testnet form. 3/ Thoughts on Gavin’s major reforms announced at Web3 Summit Bryan’s take: PoP could drastically cut security costs Both PoS and PoW rely on high inflationary rewards. PoP may: - Reduce inflation - Free up DOT for DeFi - Align long-term value with utility But: with staking yields reduced, user behavior will change — and the transition must be handled carefully. 4/ Thoughts on ZK + JAM? All 3 devs agree: - JAM can host ZK-powered rollups today - JAM itself using ZK for security is still too early - But it could happen — if zk tech gets 100x faster Hybrid models might emerge. 5/ Thoughts on JAM Governance = Grey Paper + Editorial Board Gavin remains chief editor. A new technical board will co-maintain the spec. 🧠 Junha: JAM is “spec-first” — paper comes before code. 🛡️ Bryan: Transparency and rigor are critical. ✅ Boy: Committees help preserve protocol integrity. 6/ Polana x JAM: Solana SVM running on JAM Boy Mass announced: “You can now take Solana bytecode, deploy it to JAM, and it just works — with cross-program invocations!” This makes JAM a universal execution layer. Huge for multi-chain future. 7/ The big picture: JAM is the secure, modular compute layer. But users won’t interact with JAM directly — they’ll use services built on top of JAM.
