@jane7vale You are quite dehydrated and water is not enough. You need salt and water for proper hydration. Lightheadedness, overheating, and waking at night are all from this. So hydrate with salt and water.
I have to share this. I made a comment on the post of a FB friend who has cancer, recommending the quitting of all carbs/plants and eat a high fat and moderate protein diet to recover and prevent metastasis--cancer cells feed on glucose and glutamate.
An immunologist responded to my comment with the following:
"... immunologist PhD here. if you stop fruits and vegetables you will get diseases like scurvy. Fruits and veggies have anti oxidants in them to help protect against free radical damage that causes cancer. I would say it’s better to stop eating meat instead."
🫣 So these are the people who treat cancer patients? Seriously??? 🤦♀️
Here is what I responded:
"As a PhD you need to read a bit more. To start with, read about Vilhjalmur Stefansson who lived with the Inuit (then called Eskimo) in the early 1900s for 5 years without eating a drop of fruits and veggies and didn’t take vitamins either.
Then to show the non-believers, him and his colleague underwent a special clinical trial for one year with in-controlled stay for several months and then home but under observation for one year where they were served all of the food by doctors and they received only animal products and zero supplements for one year. They both were completely healthy at the end of the year.
Stefansson went back to live with the Inuit for several more years, continuing the eating of only animal products--he loved blabber.
The reason why he didn’t get scurvy is because vitamin C is only essential to eat when one eats a lot of carbs. C is made from glucose and competes for receptor, and in a high carbs environment more C is required to be consumed to have a small amount received by receptors.
Animal products have vitamin C in them. The cells themselves have vitamin C! And as long as we don’t overcook the meat—I eat beef often raw as in steak tartare or carpaccio—and if I cook beef, it is blue or at most rare. So it has plenty of C left in it as long as I don’t also eat fruits and veggies.
Millions of people today eat carnivore with zero plants at all, some for over 20 years!
As for the antioxidants, please read my blog article here: cluelessdoctors.com/2025/08/07/the…
Antioxidants help cancer cells to survive.
I am shocked that an immunologist suggests what you just did. Our immune system uses “oxygen bursts” to destroy pathogens—and most cancer cells are anaerobic, so an oxygen burst will destroy them!
Reducing oxygen burst capability of the immune system (by taking antioxidants) enhances cancer cell growth!!!
You should know this!!! I am shocked! It sounds like you are a vegan proponent. A very bad idea for cancer!"
@MigraineBook How does it differ from carnivore? I ate all of that list. Plus a bit of green veg a d a few berries. I don’t think there much difference, just the veg/berries. I used salt and electrolytes
Keto is starvation-mimicking diet, which downregulates the thyroid. It is a very high fat, very low carbs moderate protein diet. Carnivore is not just meat; it is animal products: meat, skin, organs, fish, seafood, eggs, dairy, and animal fat. You need to increase salt--add some to your waters.
@RussellShaw_MLS@DrKristieLeong I'm extremely grateful for the kindness you've showed towards me and the depth of knowledge that you've shared. Very best wishes to you and your family
@RussellShaw_MLS@DrKristieLeong At first sleep improved on keto & then reverted & became worse. Starting to think this is cortisol. Stress/adrenal issue. If I nudge up T4, address diet, introduce meditation, address stress, could I get away without exogenous T3? I get the feeling taking T3 could be an issue too.
“Normal’ blood sugar” might be the most misleading reassurance in modern medicine.
Fasting glucose is actually the least sensitive test for early diabetes.
Your blood sugar can look “normal” on paper while metabolic dysfunction is already underway.
By the time fasting glucose rises, the problem has been brewing for years.
Metabolic dysfunction precedes fasting glucose abnormalities by over a decade.
If you want a real early warning system, track your glucose after meals or get an A1c. Don’t wait for fasting numbers to betray you.

@MigraineBook Thank you btw. I appreciate your input. Helps join the dots and flush out history and separate whats actually down to diet from what is in the background
@MigraineBook Added carbs back in plus a slight nudge in T4. Symptoms of lightheadness, ear crackling in the morning & day have improved over past two weeks. Night waking/over heating hasn't improved but was pre keto. So much going on, hard to separate symptoms & figure it all out.
@RussellShaw_MLS@DrKristieLeong Night waking with adrenaline rush & low BP is persisting. Long term symptom pre throidectomy. Maybe T3 was low then too. I have DIO2 downregulation. Plus ADR & COMT down regulation. History of chronic stress. No alcohol. Just reslient personality. Any ideas? Thank you again
@RussellShaw_MLS@DrKristieLeong Read Dr Georga Ede's book Change your diet Change your mind. It made me think again about plants, anti-nutrients, butyrate, BHB, ketones. But I have no choice but to eat some carbs. New T4 dose now for over 2 weeks. Symptoms have improved a little
@RussellShaw_MLS@DrKristieLeong Introduced carbs. Tried sourdough, triggered bloating, uncomfortable. History of IBS years back probaly UPF's Now switched to Black beans, Puy lentils. Will add carrots, a measured amount of sweet/normal potato. I have berries & thick yogurt.
@Longevity_EDU Low baseline BP hovers around 90/60 Dad had diabetes mum has Alzheimers. I'm slim but had HbA1c of 41 so tried Keto.HbA1c dropped but so did BP&T3. Post thyroidectomy. Chronic stress history. Adrenaline rushes to compensate, night waking hot& BP 75/45 Stopped Keto. What now?
Your doctor says your blood pressure is "a little high."
But high blood pressure silently damages your arteries and brain for years before symptoms show.
Here are 8 science-backed methods to lower it naturally:🧵
1. Don't worry so much about salt. Worry about potassium
@MigraineBook If I could right now I would stop carbs as I have in the past because my gut is really uncomfortable and swollen. I think Sourdough was the trigger. Bread has long been an issue but I thought artisan would be fine.
@MigraineBook Ok but milk is right at top of insulin index. My HbA1c was 41 before I started Keto. It improved but BP keeps dropping in the night, waking with adrenaline reaction pushing up glucose response. Using electrolytes/salt but that’s temporary. Any ideas? I’m struggling
@jane7vale Most people I know who are on carnivore and run into sunken insulin, add milk and cheese. It usually has enough carbs to initiate an insulin response. I have people in my migraine group with thyroidectomy on carnivore with dairy for years with zero problems.
@MigraineBook I was trying to prompt a response to my thyroid state to perhaps discover more information to support me post Keto situation. Only 1 person in Keto /carnivore community has offered info so far. I don’t think you’re aware that the diet isn’t suitable post thyroidectomy
@MigraineBook My dad was same build. It’s just me, how I’ve always been. I did it because dad was diabetic & mum has Alzheimer’s. I ate protein & fat. Felt great until T3 & BP were floored. Have to eat carbs for insulin signal for T4 conversion. Carnivore/meat based doesn’t work in my case.
