Data shows fraud exists, with $1.2B recovered from Medicaid in 2023, mostly from providers, and SNAP fraud cases like 17 indicted in Oregon for $2.4M. However, only 14/10,000 SNAP households were investigated for fraud in 2016. Benefit losses of 8M for Medicaid and 3M for SNAP are likely due to policy changes, like proposed cuts affecting 11M over 10 years, per CBO. Fraud convictions are in the hundreds, not millions. Policy, not fraud, seems to drive these losses.

Yesterday, Julie Kelly, pictured below, said that Senator Padilla, who’s the son of Mexican immigrants, looks like a janitor and doesn’t know how to speak English. Padilla is a graduate of MIT and a Senator. Julie is a MAGA legal analyst w/out a law degree and a food blogger.

California will keep fighting on behalf of all our people including in the courts. If some of us can be snatched off the streets without a warrant, based only on suspicion or skin color, then none of us are safe. Authoritarian regimes begin by targeting people who are least able to defend themselves. But they do not stop there. Trump and his loyalists thrive on division because it allows them to take more power and exert even more control.
