@sophielouisecc It's not fairness, it is madness, for the state to pay a benefit and then tax it. They should just increase the tax threshold and reduce benefits to make work more affordable and not pay benefits to anyone who has never paid in.

If people who work on low wages still have to pay tax on anything they earn over £12.5k
And pensioners have to pay tax on their pension over £12.5k
Then those who receive more than £12.5k in value of benefits should pay tax on what they get over £12.5k
That is fairness

At the same time, many people are poorer today than 20 years ago, even if they haven’t fully felt it in their wallets yet.
Kisin predicts the big public shift away from net zero won’t come from better science or arguments — it will come when ordinary people can no longer afford their current lives.
That’s when reality finally breaks through.
It’s a sobering reminder that economic pain often forces the honest conversation we’ve been avoiding.

The United Kingdom has endlessly appeased the criminal regime in Iran. The Prime Minister speaks of protecting the innocent civilians of Iran but failed to act to help stop the regime’s massacre of 40,000 innocent Iranians in January. Only an end to this regime - that brings terror to Britain’s own shores - will yield lasting peace and regional stability. Keir Starmer should follow in the footsteps of Churchill, not Chamberlain. He should support the Iranian people’s fight for liberty. The Iranian people will remember who stood with them in their hour of need and who stood against them.
