Why are Democrat Senator Hob Bryan, the LG, and some other state legislators determined to shoot Mississippi in the foot?
Because they’d rather stick it to the Republican governor and to President Trump than acknowledge they are jeopardizing over $1 billion to improve healthcare in rural communities across our state.
Mississippi’s Rural Health Transformation Program plan was developed in collaboration with the Mississippi State Department of Health, Department of Mental Health and Medicaid – folks who have infinitely more knowledge about healthcare needs in rural communities than Democrat politicians in Jackson.
The Rural Health Transformation Program was one of @realDonaldTrump’s key initiatives. Our plan and detailed budget have already been approved by his administration, and it’s subject to comprehensive federal competitive procurement, monitoring and audit requirements. All awards will be made public. There’s nothing more for politicians in our state to do on this.
Forcing SB 2477 is such a bad idea that the Trump Administration has already told LG Hosemann the Legislature should not pass it.
@DrOzCMS even told me: “any legislation that attempts to impede or restrict the procurement process will put Mississippi at serious risk of failing to obligate its funding on time.” That’s exactly what this legislation does. And oh by the way, the FQHC’s - some of the most important deliverers of health care in the Delta - are also kneecapped by SB 2477.
The fact is that there is an extremely narrow window for Mississippi to deploy this funding – the deadline is tight. We’ve already teed up a tremendous plan that will strengthen rural healthcare in our state. Why blow it up after all the hard work has been done? All Mississippi has to do now is swing.
The bottom line is this: If the Legislature moves forward with SB 2477, it will jeopardize over $1 billion in funding that will be redistributed to other states. We’ve seen what happens when Democrat politicians in Jackson and Washington get involved in spending your money…
This story has played out before. I don’t want it to happen again. Moving forward with SB 2477 is extremely short-sighted and will harm Mississippi. All because some politicians want to thumb their nose at the governor and @POTUS.
It’s not what’s best for our state! And I’m hopeful legislators that care about our future will vote “NO” if forced to try to override the veto!

🚨 Teacher Pay Raise, PERS Fixes Revived in House 🚨
Our own Frankenstein moment in the House this morning.
In February, the Mississippi House of Representatives — with bipartisan support — unanimously passed House Bill 1126. It delivered a $5,000 teacher pay raise, a $3,000 SPED supplement, real fixes to PERS Tier 5, and long-overdue School Attendance Officer reform.
Earlier this week, HB 1126 died in the Senate Education Committee after the chairman declined to take the bill up prior to the deadline.
This morning, I joined several of my colleagues in amending a Senate bill before us to resurrect the policy provisions contained in HB 1126. The House passed the bill unanimously.
✅ $5,000 across-the-board teacher pay raise
✅ $3,000 SPED teacher supplement
✅ $3,000 assistant teacher pay raise added
✅ Caps superintendent salaries by tying superintendent pay to teacher pay, incentivizing local investment in teacher salaries
✅ Brings Tier 5 retirement eligibility back to 30 years
✅ Provides extra retirement credit to LEOs and first responders, allowing retirement eligibility at 25 years of service
This newly-amended bill goes to the Senate for consideration, where my hope is that it’s given the serious consideration that it deserves. #msleg

It’s interesting to me how quickly some rush to criticize or attack the President’s decision to launch a preemptive strike on Iran. How quicky something like this has to be politicized in 2026.
We don’t know the intelligence in front of him.
We don’t know the threat we were facing.
We don’t know what Iran was planning to do.
What do we know?
We know that American forces are still actively engaged with a hostile military force. Soldiers, sailors, and airmen are still putting their lives on the line — as we speak — to protect the lives of Americans and our allies.
I’m rooting for a win — and praying for the lives of our American heroes.
We can worry about the cable TV political BS when our troops are safe and the smoke has cleared.

The death of a Poplarville mother from a rare condition prompted one lawmaker to introduce a bill in the Mississippi House that calls for reporting and more research on amniotic fluid embolisms.
HB 1296, titled Maeghan’s Law, set forth requirements meant to shed light on the rare condition through a reporting system and additional training.

While Mississippi doesn't have childcare fraud nearly as bad as what we've seen out of Minnesota, we still have inefficiencies and waste in our childcare programs.
Our team analyzed nonprofits that received state TANF grants for childcare programs and found that they spent nearly $11 million in FY2024 to provide childcare.
However, multiple programs served less than HALF of the number of kids they committed to serve each month. Despite this, the nonprofits still received full funding from MDHS.
If these nonprofits aren't living up to their commitment, then state agencies should not continue to provide them full funding. This isn't a groundbreaking idea. Just common sense.

One of the best parts about this job are the friends made along the way. This is my sweet friend, Rep. Beth Luther Waldo, from Pontotoc County. She’s serving her first term and now leads the House Drug Policy Committee. After hearing horror stories from our law enforcement and medical communities, Beth has made it her mission to reel in illicit Kratom sales. And she’s doing a dang good job. #msleg

Today, @POTUS signed a FY26 appropriations package that includes a wide assortment of benefits for Mississippi, including a provision I fought for to help keep Franklin County Hospital open.
There is still much work to do to strengthen rural healthcare in Mississippi, but this gives Franklin County Hospital a far stronger financial footing. Without this, the hospital could have closed.
I commend @LeaderJohnThune and Senate Appropriations Chair @SenatorCollins for allowing Senators to consider and pass these funding bills – a stark improvement from how the former Democratic leadership refused to bring appropriations bills to the floor.

Message from Chancellor Glenn F. Boyce:
Dear Ole Miss family,
In the aftermath of Winter Storm Fern, our campus and community continue to navigate the impacts of this devastating natural disaster. Our focus remains on keeping our people safe, recovery, our return to normal operations and continued daily updates. I am writing to address the topic of recovery related to the beloved trees that grace our campus.
Although we are heartbroken that numerous trees were significantly damaged, nearly 95% have weathered the storm well, including trees in the iconic Grove and historic Circle. Our seasoned team of experts are doing everything they can to balance safety and preservation, making careful decisions guided by professional assessments.
Starting today and continuing throughout the month, you will see increased activity surrounding tree pruning and removal operations. Our crews are focusing first on academic buildings, housing areas and main thoroughfares to ensure these high-traffic spaces are safe for our community’s return.
As this work progresses, I want our university family to understand why it is necessary and the care and thoughtful considerations that go into how these decisions are made.

A bill that would require all school boards members to be elected in the state of Mississippi passed out of the House Education committee.
An adopted amendment to the bill added the ability for the public to remove members through a recall vote.

GOP-controlled Mississippi emerges as a major focus. Education Secretary Linda McMahon has publicly posted in support of Speaker Jason White’s universal school choice proposal, HB 2. Governor Tate Reeves is making it a top priority.

Here are the facts the activists keep trying to bury.
An individual closed distance on a visibly marked federal agent during an active operation. He advanced into a hot zone while holding an object in his hand. That is escalation. Officers are trained on distance, hands, and intent because those three factors determine survival in seconds.
Federal agents are not required to assume good intentions. They are not required to wait until a weapon is raised. They are not required to pause because a camera is present. Close-in movement toward an armed agent during enforcement is a lawful threat profile under every use-of-force standard in this country.
This was not an execution. It was the predictable consequence of inserting yourself into an active federal arrest scene and ignoring reality.
Facts first. Always.

A few things:
Sorry, but no. You can’t see enough in any of these videos to make a 100% confident assessment from the confines of your armchair.
There is a difference between carrying by officers and obstructing + resisting with violence while armed. Most of the people debating this can’t even distinguish between defensive display, brandishing, etc.
Radical idea in an era of “I’m first” hot takes, but maybe wait for the full possession of facts before inciting more riots.
The truth thus far hasn’t been in favor of the violent leftists attacking ICE, so don’t be mad at people for expecting this story to follow that same pattern.
Inarguably none of this would be happening if Dem leaders did their jobs and worked with ICE in deporting violent illegal aliens instead of goading people into violent confrontations.
