In the Philippines, a going away party is what we fondly call a Despedida, similar to other Spanish-speaking countries. But a homecoming party is a Salubong, literally to anticipate a return. Which is why a souvenir from a trip is called a Pasalubong.

Yes. Fandom WAS toxic pre 2020. I was there. Gamer Gate, ship wars, gatekeeping, squabbling and a LOT of mess and noise. Post-COVID, it IS different. Because before, it was infighting. Now, it’s people looking down at even common fandom activities as aberrant behavior.

generally, if u cannot understand what they speak and if it has to take u years of study to be familiarised w its grammar and technicalities, it is a diff FILIPINO LANGUAGE. dialects are regional variants of THAT specific language. #ALAMAT makes songs using diff languages! 🤓☝️
