Who’s your HERO in Round 3? A hero is basically someone who steps up when it matters most, especially for others. Let’s look at some CAPTAINCY options to be the hero for your round! Combos: Cleary VC into Latrell C | Walsh VC into Hynes C 1. Nathan Cleary. B+P of 40.5, HFB. Up against SYD Roosters who’ve leaked 60 points in 2 games. Nathan has effortlessly dismantled the Broncos and Sharks, churning out a 65, into a 109. Both of these sides, most would agree have a better defense than the chooks. Cleary is coming up against a side who let Tanah Boyd parade around with the confidence of prime Andrew Johns, I can’t imagine Cleary facing much difficulty. On goals too! Risk: SAFE UPSIDE: HIGH 2. Nicho Hynes. B+P of 40, HFB. Many are trading Nicho which is baffling. A 131 in a drubbing into a 41 in a belting against what look like the best side in the comp by a long shot. Forgive him. He’s getting what looks like a second receiver ball in the final 20 at times which is excellent for the new rules of the last pass. He will always go well in a sharks beating. Not to mention he’s up against the Dolphins who’ve allowed 58 points in 2 games to worst sides. On goals is a plus! RISK: RELATIVELY SAFE UPSIDE: HIGH 3. Reece Walsh. Oh do I have a narrative. The grand final winning team set to start 0-3? I am not sure if I can buy it. Reynolds out, Reece on goals. It’s almost like we have seen before what Reece can do to this side when he’s in charge of the attack…like in the grand final. The truth is when Reynolds is out Walsh takes over, averaging well over 100 to finish last season off. The last time the Broncos won in Melbourne was 2016 R25, but if that is to change, it’ll be because of a superstar performance from Walsh playing fullback and halfback in every attacking set. Great VC into Hynes for a nice combo. RISK: MODERATE UPSIDE: HIGH 4. Latrell Mitchell. Like the rest,on goals. Running at…Skelton 🤮. We’ve seen already how dangerous the Souths left edge is, and he’s the centrepiece of it and the target man. With B+P of 38.5, his points come from tries, assists and goal kicks, which there should be some of with the Souths scoring 58 points in 2 games…with 26 from him - 45%! Expect him to feast and take on Skelton at the line and continue to reap havoc, without the physical drain of a fullback role, he is dangerous on every run in the centres. He’s a great pairing with an early Cleary VC. RISK: RELATIVELY SAFE UPSIDE: HIGH
