Interviewer: May I just ask why that’s funny? BBM: The assertions that have been made, we have shown to be untrue. Reporter: Five billion (dollars) has been recovered. BBM: Everything was taken from us. Interviewer: Not the view of the Presidential commission.

@GilbertCRemulla Also, it’s about time na mawala na ang mga Remulla sa Gobyerno. Their service is so bad.

It's such a privilege to learn. My father didn't believe that women deserved an education and that our place was in the kitchen "barefoot and pregnant." After a hard day's work of scrubbing floors, dishwashing, cooking, and homeschooling my brothers, he'd follow me with a key in hand to unlock the door to the second-story bedroom in a neglected part of the home. The space was reserved for the junk he'd hoard. And me. The room was mostly empty, with the exception of a dirty mattress, a bookshelf with no books, and a lamp. The lamp was broken, but at least it worked. Little did he know I was stealing books from our home library, desperate to learn. Under a blanket with light from that broken lamp, I would study past midnight, hoping I wouldn't be caught. I feared him, but an education was all I ever wanted and I wouldn't let anyone take that from me. Not even the man whose kindest compliment was, "Well, at least she can cook." When I ran away, I had zero dollars to my name. And though it wouldn't be until my early twenties, I found a way to graduate highschool. One of my proudest achievements to this day. I grew up in poverty and the silver lining was that poverty taught me a lot about being resourceful. First it was the library. Then it was being able to pay for a few textbooks. And then over the years and throughout my developing career in tech I was able to afford programs a previous version of me could only have dreamed of. So I'm grateful. Because twelve or so years ago, I was hiding from my father in a bathtub to recuperate from a long hours of servitude. That young woman was so poor, so scared, and so very uneducated. But fast-forward to 2023? Among so many other gifts that life has given, I'll be graduating as a certified coach at the end of the year and I'm beyond thrilled to help support others, especially ambitious women. I guess there's no real moral to the story, other than I'm sharing with this community the overwhelming sense of gratitude and determination I feel to continue to grow! 🖤
