@pieandbov We are in danger of normalising pitch invasions. As of next season an automatic 3 point deduction for any team whose fans come onto the pitch. That will stop it.

So on everything else that happened yesterday….. I absolutely understand the elation and emotion about the third goal and even the way it was scored. It was always going to spark bedlam and as a passionate football fan myself you can understand why some folk jumped on to the track as part of the celebrations, same as what happened at Motherwell during the week. It happens. What shouldn’t happen though, with the game not even finished, is that a good number of those fans then went much, much further. Invading all over the pitch, confronting and goading the Hearts players and making it impossible for the game to resume. I think we can all agree it of course made zero difference to the outcome of the game, the whistle would have been blown as soon as Hearts kicked off again but you cannot have fans deciding when a game is over. The Hearts players should not have been put in that position and it was a really sorry end to what was a tremendous game to finish an incredible title race. The SPFL will I am sure take a very dim view of what happened, particularly if Don Robertson confirms that he had not blown the full time whistle. More to come on this over the next few days I think.

The eyes of the world were on Scottish football this weekend. The title race captivated a global audience as it all came down to a final showdown. Yet even with the world watching on, Celtic couldn’t help but show themselves for what they are. Their fans violently attacked players and staff of their opponents - and not for the first time. This only happens because of the culture of unaccountability both within the SPL, who allow Celtic to act with impunity, and the Celtic Football Club themselves, who would rather celebrate thuggery by their fans instead of tackle it. Celtic as a club, as a fan base, and as an institution, are a perpetual embarrassment to Scotland and to football. Constantly bringing the beautiful game into disrepute.

People are actually using an AI image with two footballs and an English Premier League sleeve badge to justify one of the worst VAR interventions in a short history of awfulness. 😞

The morning after the night before. Firstly, it’s 2026, let’s stop using still images to try and confirm anything that happens on a football pitch. Video brings context. Secondly, and related to point one, for fucks sake use some common sense. An image showing two balls and an English Premier League badge on the Motherwell shirt is actually being circulated by some people as “proof” of what happened 😂 Thirdly, unless you are genuinely blind, I think we can all agree on one point now. The ball absolutely DOES hit his hand, the evidence of that in slow motion and zoomed in, is absolutely clear. Fourth, the distance on the ball is because Nicholson does indeed head it, but he heads it with his hand between his head and the ball. Again that is absolutely clear when you watch it zoomed in and in slow mo, IMO. So, and this is only my opinion of course, the only debate to be had is about whether the hand is in an unnatural position or if his hand has ended up there because of contact from Trusty. For me, whilst his arm isn’t making his silhouette bigger, you can’t really say it being on his forehead is a natural position 🤷‍♂️ Whether a nudge by Trusty pushed his arm up there is I suppose up for some debate but that’s pretty subjective, again IMO, and could be argued either way. So, despite the initial furore, by me included, I genuinely can see why this has been given. In terms of “the worst VAR decision of all time”it’s not even close to being as bad as either of the penalties Hearts didn’t get just three days ago at the same ground. Most neutrals, me included, want Hearts to win the league, and that incident last night was massively disappointing, but I think we all need to calm down a bit. What it has shown though, is that we desperately need more and better camera angles if we are stuck with VAR, and we also need much clearer and consistent decisions on handball cos we are making an absolute arse of dealing with it up here. Some refs give what others don’t, and it’s incredibly frustrating (again see Fir Park on Sat night). That’s my 2p worth anyway, all I know for sure is it’s a very good time to be a football forum owner 🤪

@pieandbov Trusty coming from behind clearly knocks his hand towards the ball & if it is subjective surely the original decision cant be overruled. Been saying for a long time with so few cameras at the grounds VAR is totally hamstrung especially with the officials been so poor anyway.

@pieandbov @Paul____Wood Celtic fan and I'm still not sure. Got to hope VAR are operating off better angles than this... Could be good for Hearts, they'll get every decision going on Sat after the blowback from this and the other day...

@ScotlandSky There are simply not enough cameras in Scottish football stadiums to support VAR and coupled with the standard of refereeing is poor anyway its hardly surprising so many poor decisions are given.

Extraordinary allegations from @benhabib6 !! Ben Habib alleges that Nigel Farage & Boris Johnson were paid £1m each by Christopher Harborne to essentially rig the election in favour of Johnson. He also claims the undeclared £5m "gift" Farage received in 2024 from Harborne was payment for Farage to take over as party leader of Reform UK and stand in Clacton.

@chicgibson Massive result tonight. Getting a good result was so important after the last 3 games. The players need to believe. Need to follow it up on Sunday to take that form into the playoffs. What was the strapline? Faith over fear. Gotta take that into the next 3 games 🤍🖤❤️🏁

Thank you @wwfcofficial you’ve been nothing but great to me - as well as the fans. Unfortunately injuries didn’t allow me to fully showcase what I was capable of, but I am grateful for the opportunity. I wish the club and fans the best, always. 💙🤍

Hey @BBCNews , got a story for you! About 11 reform new councillors have stepped down or been expelled already! It will cost a lot to elect new ones. How about running that as a story, just for a smidgen of impartiality?

How to end the wrestle-mania scarring the Premier League? In all the fall-out to the (correct) VAR decision over the foul on Raya, some thought must now be given to stopping the free-for-all grappling at corners. Premier League and PGMO need to act on this embarrassment to the football it oversees. But how? More refereeing consistency would be a start. Operating a no-hands rule - as suggested by some - would be impossible. Contact will always happen in a crowded area. Darren Cann’s suggestion of no attackers in the six-yard box until the ball is played makes sense, as Cann’s suggestions invariably do. A working party of Cann, a former player and manager could easily advise PGMO on getting to grips with the grapplers.

@jamlang22 Hope your voice is being heard in the dressing room. Somewhere over the next 3 games we need to find some form. That has to come from the players & management staff. And when they step on the park fans need to get 100% behind the players. Then we might just get out of it. 🤍🖤❤️
