This week marks one year since we signed Agreements with every state and territory to fix the funding of our public schools. This is just the start but there is more to do.

The evidence is clear. Phonics works. Three years ago in NSW 55% of students who did the Yesr 1 Phonics Check were considered on track. Last year that jumped to 64%. That’s a big jump in three years. From about one in two, to nearly two thirds on track. In just three years. This shows the importance of the reforms that are happening in NSW and that we are rolling out across the country. This year, for the first time, every State and Territory will roll out the Year 1 Phonics Check.

Today is the International Day to Combat Islamophobia. There is no place for racism, hate or Islamophobia in Australia. Not today. Not ever.
