I think these women are by and large telling truth. Sounds like pretty reckless behavior, especially the conduct he had with a subordinate employee. Not convinced he did anything non-consensual. He sounds way too distracted womanizing to be focused on official responsibilities.

When numerous women who have never met keep describing the same experience, that is a pattern, not a lie. Some of y’all sound just like MAGA.

@evanwch I’ve seen mostly women express skepticism about the most extreme allegations. He may not have engaged in criminal conduct, but it’s pretty reckless conduct for a married elected official.

Have any women stood up against the cancellation of Eric Swalwell or is it just men? So disappointing

@lawler4ny Let’s make sure they all have due process, otherwise it makes it too easy for factions to get rid of elected officials they don’t like.

Congress must hold itself to the highest ethical standard, regardless of party. Based on the facts and information that has come out, it’s simple: Eric Swalwell, Tony Gonzalez, and Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick should all resign from Congress effective immediately. If not, Congress should move to expel all three of them upon our return this week. Leadership and members in both parties should have moral clarity and recognize some things are more important than vote margins and party loyalty.

@melknepp @literaryeric @evanwch Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t but from the woman’s story it isn’t clear. But it’s not the only issue. To me the clearest problem is he’s having casual sex with a person who works for him, all while married.

Just because you have regretful sex and make bad decisions, does not give you a right to ruin someone's life. We as women need to start acting like grown ups about these kinds of situations

@AdamParkhomenko Hey I get why you are upset, but let your wife decide if she wants to file a lawsuit if Swalwell disparages her. Shes an adult and she gets to make that decision.

I wish the best for his family, and I hope he gets the help he needs. But if Eric Swalwell or his attorney makes a single statement that disparages my wife, I will be filing a lawsuit against him. I’ve already made clear that if he believes anything I’ve said is untrue, he should sue me immediately. As he considers his next steps in the coming days, he should be very careful about what he chooses to say. He should also resign immediately.

I just want to make one final point tonight. A number of women received cease-and-desist letters from Eric Swalwell. My wife did not. Every woman involved, except my wife who went on the record, has remained anonymous. So here’s the question no one can ignore: how did he know who to send those letters to if they were anonymous?

Two highly publicized recent affairs in two years -one for many years w/ woman he pressured a donor to hire, then one that prompted his wife to file for divorce. Not Swalwell or a Democrat. But Ken Paxton, who might get elected US Senator from Texas - with Trump's endorsement.

@yourlittldogtwo There’s some proof based on what these people have said and screenshots. And Swalwell said he’s no saint. So it seems he was cheating on his wife and sexting, maybe even with one of his staffers. Reckless conduct in my book. Not sure I believe the rape allegation.

@1momofcb @evanwch One of them has disclosed her name. The others disclosed text messages to reporters. I’m beyond the questioning whether it happened stage. But now trying to figure out what it means and how we should react to it.

What pressure was she under at that point?

Yeah, 4 people have pretty similar stories of his unfaithfulness to his wife. Pretty reckless behavior. Not sure he engaged in rape, would have to see a lot stronger evidence. I agree with you that Swalwell’s actions may be miscarried consensual vs rape. But a good idea to have an affair with your 21 year old government employee you supervise. Sounds like Swalwell engages in a lot of reckless conduct, but that doesn’t mean these weren’t consensual encounters. He should drop out of the Gov race and use due process in House to clear his name if he really takes issue with the most serious allegations.

Well put. Swalwell engaged in a reckless pattern of behavior, especially for a married person. Just leave your employees alone. But that doesn’t mean some of the characterizations of his behavior need to be taken at face value. Sounds complicated. His campaign for Governor is toast, probably rightly so.
