@ty_olsen Also - often times the “funding” comes in one time capital grants - and doesn’t take into account the ongoing costs born by Local Gov. for the operations, maintenance, and upkeep of the infrastructure lifecycle.

@ty_olsen I think you might be missing (some of the) point Tyler. Our options are far more narrow than the Prov. or Feds. We don’t have “taxes” to apply. We have one tax. It’s called Property tax. We don’t have VATs, Carbon Tax, Income, Corporate, Consumption Taxes… The list goes on…

These reports are funny. They say that to pay for infrastructure, cities need to either raise taxes or development charges, which "impacts affordability." It's true, but the *whole* point is to plead for federal/provincial funding. They never note that fed $ also comes from taxes

@ty_olsen This isn’t advocating for more taxes. It’s about ensuring the responsibility to adequately, and proportionately fund these important projects is shared by other orders of government in a fair and equitable manner, taking into consideration the scope of “revenues” available.

To those who knew the Beastie Boys, MCA was the straw that stirs the drink.  So often he was the catalyst, always pushing new ideas, bold thinking - the optimism of just trying stuff. MCA made films - and good ones too. He directed a bunch of the band's videos. Launched the Tibetan Freedom Concerts. 
Ad-Rock would say that he was like the friend you know that always has the crazy idea but MCA would actually do them.  MCA - a mixture of the can-do optimism of the American spirit and a deep regard for humanity supported by his spiritual beliefs.  Today would have been Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch’s 60th Birthday. RIP MCA
