@AhmadRehanKhan You can literally get a free observership from NYU by cold emailing profs. You supporting the $5,000 shows how out of touch you actually are. You could get a full on Sub-I at MGH/Stanford for around $5,000.

I understand your perspective, and where you’re coming from.
My role is simple: share legitimate research and rotation opportunities so students have access to them.
I don’t promote blindly, and I don’t dismiss without evidence.
Yes, $5,000 is a significant cost.
But it also offers exposure to NYU, one of the most prestigious institutions in NYC, which for a surgical applicant can potentially open important doors.
At the same time, I have consistently called out exploitative observerships, programs charging $2,000–$3,000 for what is essentially a clinic rotation disguised as a university experience.
Regarding this program:
I cannot comment on specifics like hands-on exposure or LOR quality, but NYU is a highly reputable institution, and I would expect them to deliver what they advertise.
Ultimately:
This is about informed decision-making. Everyone should weigh:
Cost vs value
Exposure vs expectations
Personal goals vs financial reality
And while skepticism is healthy, it’s also true that many applicants have built meaningful connections through such rotations, connections that have, in some cases, translated into matches at highly competitive programs.

@AhmadRehanKhan I was hoping for your critique on this post instead of promoting it Dr. Khan! Charging IMGs,I would say exploiting them for something and not even ranking them later in their residency program is wrong at so many levels. We all know how much they would be teaching in this program

@JeffAnderson_ @DoctorSotelo @Inside_TheMatch It is predatory, kind of a necessity for an IMG thinking of uro. So yes a lot of them do it. It is quite surprising how doctors shamelessly mention the self-funding nowadays though

After nearly 4 years working within a large healthcare system, I made the decision to take a different path.
Today was DAY 1 of building something of my own.
I decided to start my own private practice with one clear purpose: to put patients first always. Not driven by systems, quotas, or accepting burnout as the norm, but focused on doing what's right for each individual.
My goal is simple: to provide high-quality urological care where patients feel heard, respected, and never rushed.
Grateful for the journey so far and even more excited for what's ahead.
