This is probably the biggest scandal in World Cup history.
USA striker Folarin Balogun committed this outrageous foul against Bosnia and was shown a straight red card… but here’s where it gets crazy.
The White House publicly contacted FIFA and the tournament organizers, asking them to lift his suspension. And they actually did. Balogun is now eligible to play against Belgium.
The organizers cited something called a “probation period,” meaning the red card still stands, but instead of serving the mandatory suspension, he’ll only be punished if he commits a similar offense again.
A blatant manipulation of the rules for everyone to see, especially considering red-card suspensions are not supposed to be appealable.

Unhinged woman tries to escape by driving the car through 2 squad cars.
A routine call about a stolen vehicle quickly turned into a chaotic and violent scene in a Waukegan, Illinois parking lot. Waukegan Police officers responded to a report of a stolen Hyundai Elantra parked at a local Starbucks, where they found two individuals asleep inside.
When officers opened the vehicle door to secure the occupants, the driver, 27-year-old April M. Reins, suddenly woke up and put the car into drive. In a desperate bid to escape, she slammed the vehicle into nearby parked cars, including two police cruisers.
As her male passenger tried to flee on foot, Reins continued her frantic escape attempt. She struck a police sergeant with the open passenger-side door. A fellow officer managed to pull the sergeant away just in time to prevent him from being run over. The sergeant did suffer some injuries that required treatment.
Both Reins and the passenger were eventually apprehended, but the danger didn't end there. Upon arrest, both suspects began showing signs of an active drug overdose. Reins later admitted to consuming a cocktail of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine, requiring immediate medical transport to a local hospital.
Even after her arrest, Reins wasn't done trying to escape; a month later, she attempted to climb into a bathroom ceiling at the Lake County Sheriff's Office, causing injuries to another sergeant's hand before being detained.
Reins faced a long list of charges, including aggravated battery of a peace officer, criminal damage to property, and aggravated DUI. She ultimately entered a negotiated plea deal, pleading guilty to aggravated battery to a peace officer and aggravated driving under the influence. She was sentenced to 7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
