-Only played Carter Bryant 5 minutes when we desperately needed perimeter defense (minimized tape on him for opposing scouts before playoffs)
-Choked lead on purpose to get overtime reps (good for playoff fatigue)
-Zero offensive scheme in the final possessions of regulation and overtime (good experience for players to coach themselves)
-Some much needed humbling for this young team

Kon Knueppel is having a season unlike any rookie in NBA history, and possibly unlike any rookie season we’ll ever see again. Charlotte’s been the #1 offense over the last 5 months, and he’s the 2nd most involved player in their scheme. Whether he’s curling off a screen, getting a handoff, screening for the ball, or repositioning himself as a spacer, his movement and shooting threat warp defenses. In January, his skill set was used as the primary weapon in attacking a historic OKC defense. They scored 124 points and won by 27. He’s averaging 18.8 PTS and 7.9 3PA. He’s made 56% of his 2s and 43% of his 3s. Only one player has ever reached those marks in a single season: Steph Curry in 2016. What Kon is doing is completely unprecedented. Just because he’s not dominating the ball, doesn’t mean he’s not having a historic rookie season.

Crazy but true stat:
Since 2000, only three teams have won the National Championship after starting the NCAA Tournament outside the overall KenPom Top 6.
