As a daughter of the late Deputy Controller of Customs and proud Apapa man, Alhaji Ilyasu Yakubu Allahbura, Apapa has always been home to me. I grew up within this community and understand both its strength and its struggles. I am also the granddaughter of Yisa Brahimo Ottun, fondly known as YB Ottun (Allahu Lateef). The calls, messages and encouragement from the people of Apapa over the past few days have been overwhelming. I have heard you clearly. Maybe the people are finally tired of representatives they only see on campaign posters. I will be taking consultations seriously in the coming weeks as we listen, engage and explore what true representation for Apapa should look like. This is not just about politics. It is about visibility, competence, structure and genuine service to our people. Help spread the word. Hauwa Allahbura.

@egi_nupe It's armed robbery. I don't know much about law, but a toy gun has the same psychological effect on someone being robbed as a real gun, which is what the lawyer is going to prove makes it armed robbery.

Yoruba Patriots Alliance (Y-PA) called for Law barring non Yoruba from contesting in Lagos and SouthWest region in general. Y-PA group wants SouthWest Government to enact law baring non Yoruba from contesting in SouthWest. Since SouthWest is the commercial hub of Nigeria, people tends to migrate enmass from their region to Yorubaland thereby putting stress on SouthWest resources and then affecting general wellbeing of Yoruba people. Mass migration from other region has caused over population, high cost of housing rentage and negative agendas from some of these migrants as they are trying to penetrate SouthWest Politically, raising political banners and trying to contest in SouthWest. Over population comes with cr!*me, and this is why it seems cr!mes like baby factory, fake products, b@n*ditry etc are now found in SouthWest. It is very important to take note that if this is not address, it may force Yoruba people to adopt South Africa techniques in dealing with mass migration. To prevent this from happening, Y-PA hereby call on SouthWest Government to enact this law with immediate effect to avoid inter-ethnic brouhaha. Make this go viral instead, as it reflects the accurate numbers that they are trying to hide. Nigeria didn’t begin in 1999. Playing regional victim after ruling a country for 47 years out of the 66 years of her entire existence is diabolical.

A book titled “Igbo Cookbook: Authentic Recipes” containing Ayamase, Ofada sauce, Efo riro, Ewedu, Gbegiri, Asun, Akara, Moi Moi, Ata dindin, Buka stew, Ogi, Boli and some other Yoruba dishes is exactly why people become hypervigilant about cultural attribution. Then people act confused when Yoruba people push back, like in the Aadun incident that just happened here. You cannot spend years downplaying Yoruba cuisine, suddenly switch to “shared heritage,” then package a large chunk of Yoruba food under an “Igbo cookbook” label. Even some Hausa, Efik and Ibibio dishes are inside too. At that point, people are going to start noticing a pattern. If this was titled “Nigerian Cookbook” or “West African Cookbook” and dishes were properly attributed by origin, nobody would care.

Billionaire Folorunsho Alakija donated this multi-billion naira Medical facility to Osun State. No Noise. No Press Conference. No Fanfare And guess what - She does not want to be President. The character of a person of good breeding does not dress itself in the garments of self-advertisement. We should eradicate the 'pharisaic theatre of generosity. N10 million donation to a nursing school, by a Presidential hopeful, carefully scheduled for political season, with CNN on standby, cameras angled, and a speech drafted three weeks in advance. The gift is not the point. You are the point. Charity should be for purpose - Not for power.

There are some people we must call out and expose if we are to secure the Yorubaness of Lagos. One of them is this woman but the 'Governor General' of 'Yoruba Buts' is Retired Air Commodore Bode George. Same man weaponized the ethnicity of Late Funsho Williams' wife telling Ibos they had the numbers to unseat the Lagos Progressives. That was what forced Tinubu to hurriedly appoint Ben Akabueze as Commissioner in 2006, one year to the 2007 elections. Same George cultivated the Ibo block votes for Obanikoro and Jimi Agbaje, promising them heaven and earth apart from locking down their loyalty. He is said to have promised them the Governorship later if PDP can grab power in the state. The worst he has done was also forcing GRV on LP, someone without a single political currency. To make him attractive, he told Obi his mum was from Anambra & his support would help galvanize Ibo support for his son's friend. Every time Ibos have been desperate to snatch power in Lagos, Bode George has been behind it. I don't know why his only strategy is to cultivate the greed of outsiders against his own people. Hes also behind GRV's rubbishing of Yorubas of Ogun, Oyo & co, as if hes Awori himself. We won't have peace until George & co stop their madness!!! @YOLICOM6 @Achilles0055199

Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele was impeached by 38 of 40 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on seven counts of gross misconduct. As Deputy Governor to then-Governor Bola Tinubu, she also wanted control of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) party. Shortly after, Tinubu left the party and built what later became the APC. What did she achieve with the AD before jumping to the PDP? Today, the same politician who craved control of the AD back then has not been able to win even her ward, let alone a Local Government, in any of the parties she has joined since 2002. Yet she continues to attack the man she politically wrestled and chose to make her lifelong enemy, accusing him of trying to turn Nigeria into a one-party state at a time when more than 10 out of the 18 registered political parties are actively thriving. And some gullible Nigerians still listen to this featherweight. Shame.

I have taken my time to look at the beneficiaries of this project, and I must say that there’s NO way I’ll not be angry or uncomfortable in any way with this list if I’m a Yoruba person. Come on now, Tbh, this list is filled with Igbos. Yes, this guy is from Anambra, representing the indigenous people of Oshodi-Isolo II, and they should be your priorities first before anyone else. I read a tweet reply from my friend and leader @akintollgate, where he said that area is dominated by non-indigenes, but I totally disagree with you, sir. Lagos has slowly normalized a very dangerous culture where people now act like indigenous people asking questions about representation is hatred. It is not hatred. Human beings naturally look after their own first. Every tribe in Nigeria does it openly or quietly. Nobody should pretend not to understand this simple truth. People vote hoping that someone who understands their language, history, fears, and identity will protect their own interests first before extending kindness to others. That is how politics works everywhere in the world. Only in Lagos do people suddenly become philosophers when Yoruba people ask questions about who benefits from their representatives, and this must stop. This is not even about denying anyone an opportunity. Nobody is saying non-indigenes should not benefit from public office; that would be so unreasonable. But once people begin to look through projects, appointments, empowerment lists, scholarships, contracts, and medical outreaches, and then continuously struggle to see themselves reflected, resentment naturally starts to grow. A society survives on fairness, not emotional blackmail. Many people attacking Yoruba people online for speaking up today would never stay quiet if this happened repeatedly in their own states. That hypocrisy is part of Nigeria’s problem. Everyone understands identity politics until Yoruba people mention it; then suddenly, everybody starts preaching one Nigeria and its constitution!!

CLAIM: There was no single armed robbery incident under Obi as the governor of Anambra State. “Throughout his tenure as governor, there was no single armed robbery in the state,” said Yunusa. VERIFICATION: FIJ found that reliable data disproves Yunusa’s claim. Obi governed the state for eight years. In his first four years, from 2006 to 2010, a series of armed robbery incidents, including attacks on financial institutions, took place. Between 2007 and 2010, armed robbery cases reported to the police in the state were 499, according to a 2012 Annual Abstract of Statistics published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s official data custodian. 2007 alone recorded 96 cases. There were 69 cases in 2008, 240 in 2009, and 94 in 2010. Compared to other states in the southeast, Anambra had the second highest reported cases of armed robberies after Abia State within the period under consideration. One example of an armed attack was the Oba-Nnewi ‘bullion’ van attack in April 2009 in Anambra State. About 30 people were shot dead during this incident alone. In July of the same year, a robbery group unsuccessfully attempted to attack a Spring Bank branch in the state. The ensuing panic caused banks in the area to close their operations for the day. Admitting the increasing rate of armed robbery and kidnapping on his watch, Obi told journalists in 2009 that he was taking steps with other stakeholders to effectively curb the crime.
