Striking coincidence: the actors leaving this iconic scene from The Godfather Part II passed away in the same order. Fredo: John Cazale (1978) Sonny: James Caan (2022) Tom: Robert Duvall (2026) Michael: Al Pacino, still alive.

Love Classical Music and Movies 🎺🎻💖🎥🎬
During the wedding scene of The Godfather (1972), an elderly man takes the microphone and begins to sing a traditional Neapolitan song. This is Gennaro Amato, a renowned Neapolitan comic performer who was one of the great figures of Italian-American stage and recording culture in early 20th-century New York.⁣ ⁣ The piece he performs is “C’è la luna mezzo mare” or “There’s a Moon in the Middle of the Sea”, a classic Sicilian wedding song. The song is full of meanings and humor. It’s an old folk tune about a mother and daughter discussing possible suitors.⁣ ⁣ 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘢, 𝘮𝘢𝘮𝘢, 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥,⁣ 𝘔𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳, 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘐 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰? @TychoBrahe What an absolutely fantastic achievement. You’ve now been doing this longer than Jim Davis had been doing Garfield when you started.

@Goldrushcomic He’s godly man if he’s the god. Religion isn’t the problem, wilful and celebrated ignorance and stupidity is. The USA has always been anti intellectual. You even spend time celebrating a dubass with Columbus Day for things he didn’t do.

Hannity: Pritzker, Newsom, predictably claiming this is a conservative censorship. That is a false. I can't find a single prominent conservative voice in the country that even remotely wanted or was pushing to get Jimmy Kimmel taken off the air.

🚨BREAKING: Trump was just asked about the Epstein book: "It's not my signature, and it's not the way I speak. And anybody that's covered me for a long time know that's not my language. It's nonsense." It’s so obvious he’s lying. Does he think his supporters are that stupid?

Evening viewing recommendation? On @criterionchannl, kick off July with Michael Mann's MIAMI VICE (2006)! criterionchannel.com/miami-neonoir Packed with woozy poetry and visual pyrotechnics, Mann’s big-screen adaptation of the 1980s television show that established his reputation is one of the most formally daring films released by a major studio this century.

@Picarat Saga is the series that kept the direct market afloat for ages and has been a top tier series for ages. Drive blew me away with how intricate it was designed within the first 70 pages, the races the cultures are each distinct and wonderfully deep.

@Picarat Saga is a Shakespearean oddessy larger than his histories, a masterclass of cliffhangers that don’t relent or letdown. It twists and turns, while remaining a story about parenthood and growing up.

@Picarat Yep, and they’re better than Dune. Drive is a complex and masterfully orchestrated space opera with large expansive strokes covering empires, while also bringing us in close to the players and their plights, while still letting itself be funny and true to the comic strip origins.
