There are no dogs left behind. We have them all. Operation Closure continues this week as 22 more former research beagles make their journey to Kindness Ranch. Including the arrivals yesterday, 42 beagles are now safe at Kindness Ranch, beginning their second chance at life.

1,500 beagles are finally getting a second chance at life. After months of legal battles and intense public pressure, the first group of beagles from Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin has begun their journey out of the research facility. The initial 300 dogs have been transferred to temporary staging areas for veterinary care and vaccinations before being distributed to shelters and rescue organizations across the country. Rescuers report that the beagles, known for their gentle and affectionate nature, are adjusting remarkably well and are already showing affection toward humans despite their laboratory background. This landmark release was made possible through a negotiated agreement between the facility and animal welfare groups, including Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy. The facility has also agreed to relinquish its breeding license. With more than 700 adoption applications already received, these dogs are on their way to loving forever homes. This successful rescue represents a major victory for the growing movement to retire research animals.
