Stop Paying $50/Month for Opus Clip. I Built a Free, Open-Source App to Automate Your Shorts Channel Introducing Autoshorts 🚀 AutoShorts is a local-first desktop application that does the heavy lifting of clip generation entirely on your own hardware. Instead of paying a company to render videos in the cloud, Autoshorts uses your own computer to probe, extract, transcribe, analyze, and render vertical shorts. No monthly limits. No paywalls. No subscription tiers. Just run unlimited videos and create unlimited clips. The codebase is fully open-source. Got suggestions or want to add auto-captions? Pull requests are always welcome! github.com/JayWebtech/aut…

Submission 🎯 done. After weeks of building for the #UXMaxx Hackathon: the @ParticleNtwrk × @magic_labs track on @encodeclub I finally got a working demo out the door. Built a checkout SDK, then built a simple ecommerce site on top of it to put the SDK through a real use case. For most hackathons I'd default to building a consumer app, but not this time. I wanted to try something different , leverage existing infrastructure, @ParticleNtwrk and @magic_labs, to make crypto spending feel seamless for web2 and web3 users alike. Building with Particle and seeing what the team has actually shipped, and how much of it can be leveraged across other consumer products, has me already thinking about a second product off the back of this hackathon. Now we wait for results. Fingers crossed 🤞

For the past weeks I've been quietly building for the UXMaxx hackathon. Tag: pushing crypto toward its potential. Went through a bunch of ideas along the way, fintech apps, payroll tools before landing on something else entirely. Why the switch? Because after sitting through the workshops and actually reading the docs instead of skimming them, I realized the point of this hackathon isn't necessarily to build a brand new product category. It's to take infrastructure that already exists and use it to push web3 toward mass adoption by making the experience feel familiar, not by teaching people something new. So I built a checkout SDK. Why checkout, specifically? Because it's the most honest test of whether crypto is actually usable. Nobody abandons a DeFi dashboard out of confusion the way they abandon a cart. If crypto payments can't survive checkout, they can't survive anywhere. The real problem was never that people don't have money on-chain. It's that it's scattered some USDC on Base, a little ETH on Arbitrum, something random from an old airdrop. Every existing checkout flow makes the buyer solve that themselves before they're even allowed to pay. Bridge. Swap. Switch networks. Most people just leave.

On a lighter note, I'm genuinely in awe of the amazing founders building from Nigeria. You guys are actually the real MVP.

My team is building chargePadi... Last week we built a prototype, more of an experimental version of the device. What we achieved: - built a successful prototype - built a website/webapp - programmed the device to listen for updates from the web application, timeout and trigger in real-time. We are not stopping till we have our first set of stations at our pilot venue 🚀. Lemme know what you think. chargepadi-web.vercel.app
