When President Mnangagwa speaks about value addition, he speaks from conviction, principle & practice. He has consistently emphasized that 🇿🇼 must move beyond exporting raw produce & instead focus on processing, packaging & adding value to every product b4 it reaches the market

Once again, Zimbabwe's chronic speculators have taken to their keyboards - grasping at a private farm visit to manufacture a political crisis that exists nowhere but in their feverish imaginations. President Ramaphosa's Sunday visit to President Mnangagwa was precisely what it appeared to be: two veteran Comrades of Africa's freedom era, long-standing friends, sharing time at a working farm. That farm, for the benefit of those apparently incapable of basic research, is a documented regional agricultural hub. Former Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi visited in 2024 and called it a "Garden of Eden." Regional leaders, international delegates, and local dignitaries have toured it repeatedly. This is not a secret - it is a matter of public record. But facts have never been the speculators' strong suit. The desperate attempt to yoke this visit to Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 is fiction of the laziest order. CAB3 is a parliamentary process. It is proceeding through Zimbabwe's constitutional institutions exactly as it should - no foreign mediation required, none sought, none offered. President Ramaphosa's government is a sovereign actor that respects non-interference. Inventing a CAB3 connection does not make one exist. As for the breathless whispers about "cooling ZANUPF temperatures" and succession intrigue - ZANUPF is stable, united, and governed by its own Constitution and Congress resolutions. No visiting dignitary holds a brief on internal party matters. These recycled opposition tropes fool no one. Presidents Ramaphosa and Mnangagwa are friends. Friends visit friends. Write that down.

You are correct, Moyo. I would venture to assert that the notion of a coup in this country is itself unfounded. The events of 2017 which have given rise to such thoughts, while involving military engagement, were constitutionally sanctioned. The removal of President Mugabe was fundamentally executed through Parliamentary processes. That is why some of us actively engaged with SADC to advocate for our nation, emphasizing the democratic essence of the entire initiative and its grounding in popular support rather than military action. Even the former First Family has retained its status and benefits, exemplifying that the actions taken were not motivated by vindictiveness. In fact, Mugabe continues to be revered posthumously as a distinguished Pan-Africanist. The current narrative about a coup should, at best, be largely performative, a form of sabre-rattling, as such an undertaking is fraught with complexity and peril. President Ramaphosa's reported stance during his recent visit affirms this slippery slope. Such reckless pursuits lead to treason charges! The appropriate route to political ascendancy lies in adhering to the established party protocols, progressing from the village levels through DCC, Province, and culminating with the CC and Politburo structures. The recent declarations by the British Ambassador Pete Vowles have also affirmed that the CAB3 matter is indeed a domestic issue. It is evident that certain individuals have sought external validation for their ambitions. The British position serves as a rebuke to the hasty allegations suggesting unconstitutional maneuvers are afoot. Constitutional amendments are a standard practice and what we are witnessing is merely a domestic endeavor to recalibrate our democratic framework. Following the passage of these amendments, it will be imperative for aspiring politicians to cultivate robust support within party ranks, as the terms of "First" and "Second" Vice President, which give others wrong ideas about succession, will be removed. It's indeed a positive change that brings equality within the political sphere allowing the best candidate to win.

Hopes of a military coup against President Emmerson Mnangagwa, led by his vice president, General Constantino Chiwenga and his associates, have reportedly been quashed after sources say that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa assured his Zimbabwean counterpart that South Africa will not countenance any unconstitutional removal of a president in Zimbabwe. Today, President Emmerson Mnangagwa met with Ramaphosa in Harare, where he was received by Mnangagwa alongside businessmen Wicknell Chivayo and Kudakwashe Tagwirei, before the two leaders and the two businessmen flew on a one hour helicopter trip together to Mnangagwa’s farm, Precabe, in Kwekwe. They toured the farm, where the South African president was shown Mnangagwa’s Ankoli cattle and fish breeding pools. When they reached the ostriches, Ramaphosa is said to have remarked, in a pointed and politically loaded statement, that “nothing and nobody will remove my elder brother from power unconstitutionally.” The remark was made in the presence of members of the delegation accompanying the two leaders. “The owner of these ostriches will be president until 2030 if Parliament says so,” Ramaphosa is further reported to have said, reinforcing his assurance to Mnangagwa and those present. The two leaders then went into a four-hour closed-door meeting, where they were joined by Tagwirei and Chivayo. The meeting was described as highly personal and private, with even the president’s spokesperson, George Charamba, excluded from the delegation for today’s visit. Sources familiar with the discussions say Ramaphosa made it clear that South Africa would neither support nor recognise a military coup against Mnangagwa. Those within Mnangagwa’s inner circle were reportedly buoyant after the engagement, interpreting Ramaphosa’s position as a significant reinforcement of regional backing. They believe that, with South Africa’s stance now aligned with that of countries such as Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, and, more recently, Botswana, where Chivayo travelled in recent days, Mnangagwa has effectively strengthened his position and insulated his presidency within the region against any potential coup attempt. What was significant today is that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s trip to Zimbabwe, which I broke last night, was not an official bilateral state engagement conducted at the level of heads of state. It was a private trip, and sources in Pretoria say that many people in the president’s office, and indeed within DIRCO, the foreign affairs department of South Africa, were not aware of it. President Cyril Ramaphosa is now back in South Africa after the short visit to Zimbabwe.
