Here’s what I believe a decent U.K. political party would stand for… in no particular order… This is obviously not exhaustive but it is some of what I think would make this country a better place for all. 1. Increase spending on the NHS, especially increasing pay to doctors and nurses. Fund this from increasing taxes on the wealthy, particularly closing down tax loopholes for large companies. Also chase money back from companies who took billions for useless PPE and hopeless covid tracking… 2. Deal with the asylum seekers boat situation by spending more on quicker processing of applications (which are impossibly slow right now) and opening LEGAL routes for asylum applications. Scrap ridiculous Rwanda scheme. 3. Condemn continuing aggression and impose sanctions to prevent more genocide in Gaza. Reopen international talks to find a two state solution. 4. Look at rebuilding trade relations and freedom of movement with Europe and other parts of the world, particularly by working together on reinforcing international human rights law and incentivising people to bring their skills and talents to the U.K. 5. Ban companies from dumping sewage in our waters and look at cleaning up rivers and our sea territories by spending money on alternative waste disposal systems. 6. Commit to tackling climate change by offering tax incentives to companies using clean energy sources. Commit more to international cooperation on climate change policies. 7. Bring down inflation by incentivising productivity and community motivation schemes. Also by looking at tighter fiscal policies aimed at redistribution of wealth to address ridiculous current disparity. 8. Invest in community building schemes where people are encouraged to meet in local venues to discuss community issues. 9. Invest in the emergency services and police force (as well as fire services) to bring down crime and improve community relations. Police need to be educated extensively in dealing with hate crime, racism and sexual violence. 10. Look at compassion schemes designed to give communities more education on and responsibility for vulnerable people, including the homeless, the differently abled and those dealing with mental health issues. 11. Challenge media bias by reinforcing reporting neutrality policies. Ban oligarchs from controlling our information outlets unless they pass tests of neutrality and responsibility. 12. Dismantle cronyism and nepotism in government and at the BBC. Former politicians or those expressing strong political affiliations should not be eligible for controlling BBC posts. 13. Increase welfare, social security spending and the minimum wage to avoid anyone relying on food banks. 14. Spend money on responsible policing of companies using AI to replace humans. 15. Bring back council grants for university students and promote greater education in the arts and sciences.

I’ve recently been reading Minnie Bruce Pratt’s ‘Crimes Against Nature’, a poetry collection that maps her experience as a mother loosing custody to her children (homosexuality was criminalised at the time). Incredible poet, activist and human being. Rest in Power Minnie.
Auntie Kate sez please #stayalive, don’t be mean❤️@katebornstein

Minnie Bruce Pratt passed today. Fierce femme, long time activist, poet, and educator. Loving wife, and widow to author/activist Les Feinberg. Rest in power, dear lady. L to R: #LesFeinberg, #MinnieBrucePratt, me, ⁦@urbantantrika⁩ August, 2002, West Village NYC

Just finished the ‘Once Upon A Time in Northern Ireland’ series on @BBCiPlayer exploring the history of the troubles from both sides of the conflict. Can’t recommend it enough. A devastating but deeply compassionate watch. Huge respect to everyone involved in the making.

A reminder of how impactful well trained staff can be when instances of harassment happen. Visible signage can be preventative, but also let’s ppl know they can report & will be believed. Big up the staff at NiceNSleazys & the work of @_goodnightout @AskForAngela

Awful experience getting groped as I arrived @nicensleazy last night. Spoke w/the doorman afterwards who calmly reassured me the man wouldn’t be let back in. Really appreciated how professionally it was dealt with & how much visible @_goodnightout @AskForAngela signage was up.

I SUBMITTED MY THESIS ⭐️ Feels very surreal but I’m celebrating and toasting to absent friends today. Miss the days of a cloister pic but guess this selfie with my laptop will have to do! Now to sleep for a million years..next stop, viva!
