Marking my 120 days consistent show up and posting daily yesterday - 26 Jan 2025. Starting out at 26 Sep 2024 - I have no expectations. Just want to be consistent as long as possible. From 200+ followers, now 7.8K+ -> 7.6K within 120 days isn't bad at all. With almost 10 millions impression in total. Nearly 85K profile visits. It's 30% from 1 year consistency - I'll push through until I reach 26 Sep 2024. Let's see how far I can grow further from here.

Took the weekend off, and no, I’m not guilty about it. As much as I love designing, I know that real creativity comes from balance, not burnout. I spent the weekend with my family, my fur baby, and myself by recharging, reflecting, and simply being. We’re often told to chase success, to hustle harder, but from my experience, the more we chase, the further it seems to slip away. When we slow down, trust the journey, and allow things to unfold naturally that’s when things start to look bright. It’s not about rushing to get somewhere. It’s about being present, embracing the now, and letting life guide you to where you’re meant to be. Come Monday, I’ll be more focused, energized, and ready to create, because when you take time to refuel, you have so much more to give. What about you? Did you take the weekend to reconnect with yourself, with nature, with what truly matters? Sometimes, slowing down is the best way to move forward.

If it makes anyone feel better, “I have no clients” is not just a “new designers” problem. Every designer goes through it and there’s only one solution to this “9-5”. But that’s not the answer is it? When I first started designing it took me 6 months 21 days to finally someone pay me $200 for my work. I was working sending proposal, learning how to design and essentially for free. This is a perfect example for the meme “digging for diamonds and then giving up while you’re about to find the treasure of your life” I could have given up in 15 days. Maybe 2 months or even 6 months. I could have complained why no one wants to work with me and thee a towel and went back to doing something else. Sometimes you cannot measure your continuous effort and how it could change your life entirely. No one is a bigger blocker for your growth and “I have no clients” than you. It’s not the clients problem, it’s your problem. Failing to okay, but not trying again and again is what putting most of them back to where they started. “I have no clients” is a mindset problem, for someone who has just started this is a hard pill to swallow. For someone you have been burning out with too much work, it’s a boon for a short period before they jump back in. “I have no clients” you’re not trying hard enough. Running behind hype, not behind value. Value driven growth drives more work than focusing on “impressions”. “I have no clients” may be you have not fully invested in the process. Keep doing it, go the extra mile, do the unconventional, break things and then see the outcomes. “I have no clients” is an attitude problem, people tend to expect things in fall in place with minimal effort both in their marketing and design processes. “I have no clients” okay, you’re just complaining! You’re on one of the best platforms to share and find work. If you’re not doing the basics, then no one can teach you how to find clients.
Ross Hatton@RossHatton

Designers, the "I have no clients" phase is part of the journey. It's the universe testing how much you want it. Testing if you're willing to keep going. Testing if you're really cut out for this. Stay strong. Tomorrow's success only comes to those who refuse to quit today.

One of my goals this year is to work on my design skills. Figma was a bit of a learning curve. Step by step, I'm following the process and learning. My end goal is to turn ideas into designs then into code.

It’s been a rather productive day today! I’m planning to ship the MVP of my studio website this week and iterate on it as I go. So, the shop will be opening very soon. Creating a Framer website from scratch, without the help of a template, has been quite the challenge, especially as a newbie. But it’s been worth it!
