@LachMcKenzie Could be a record for the slowest reply ever. #10years! Glad to hear you're doing well and hope the recovery from the floods are going well.

@jaytrevaskis Still at Mullum. The school has been smashed by the floods. Kids will all be on site next week for the first time in 8 weeks. How about you? Living in Bega?

@mr_phil_davis Is that good value? What would happen if I stump up the 50 squid and say the sponsor is @MaldonCC ??? That'd be a stitch up as good as clown shoes on a school hike.

@kath_boon I wish I'd thought to have it all in one book from the start of the journey. So good.

Spending the break flipping back through my notebook. This documents 3 and a bit years of learning from and with inspirational educators and my own reflection along the PZ journey. The most impactful and meaningful learning I have ever done. #PZAus

@blu_boys @NSWHealth Far South Coast has 2 venues now identified for people to get tested because a Victorian with a positive test result visited. Given one of the venues was yesterday morning & they’ve now got a +ive result, the chances are they traveled while experiencing symptoms. All responsible

NSW recorded three locally acquired cases of #COVID19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, with an additional two cases in returned travellers in hotel quarantine. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in NSW to 4,739 since the beginning of the pandemic.

@NSWHealth and @GladysB can you please give clarity on how a Victorian positive case was able to get results so quickly after being in Bermagui yesterday morning and got back to Victoria so quickly and got tested and the results back? Something isn’t adding up

13 yrs on & what I’d give for another hug from the man who wore his👖way, way too high. We teased dad mercilessly about it. We remember him as an intelligent, compassionate, joyous bugger with a 🧠 full of magnificent jokes. Well, jokes anyway. Cheers to my hero 🤗 🍻

Joe Bower was one of the first people I ever met (online) who talked about ungrading, and his voice and his work was a great inspiration to me. #UngradingSlowChat Joe Bower had an impact on so many people; I Googled and found this tribute by @spencerideas spencerauthor.com/the-incredible…
Jay Trevaskis@jaytrevaskis

@totalstemteach All for it. I've learned so much from Joe Bower and still go here regularly for back up. joe-bower.blogspot.com/p/abolishing-g… So many thought provoking articles.

I explained the academic research, real world application, and my classroom, but the issue of fairness to the “rule followers” kept emerging. I explained that rewarding behavioral compliance and assessing academics should be separate issues. Thoughts? Chime in for or against.

I had an intense conversation with a colleague about grading. I don’t give 0s or penalize late work, and I give 2nd chances. Their argument was it is not fair to other students who turn their work in on time, and I am not preparing them for the workforce. I need backup. Anybody??

"The experience of schooling shapes the character of all students - makes them more respectful, responsible, and kind, or less so. The only choice schools have is to teach character haphazardly and poorly, or to do so intentionally, meaningfully, and well." @ELeducation

@PDTaylor73 I'd argue any timed test doesn't allow someone to show their true capability. Students need time to process and problem solve. Timed tests also increase anxiety.rarely conducive to good learning.

@msrebeccabirch Not sure. But with support from teachers in choosing it is much more affirming that consistently poor marks. Help them select artefacts that show their progress best.
