Ok. Here’s what we’re going to do. My mentions will be toast but #BigCatIsForThePeople. I’m going to give away 2 PS5’s to 2 random people who pick the PMT Lottery ball number correctly on Wed’s show. Only can reply once otherwise you’re disqualified. Guess the number below.

Bob Costas: Looking ahead, Gerrit Cole is under contract for a long time in New York and Game 3 of the 2027 ALDS could be in Toronto & it appears Cole's passport is set to expire in 2026 so have to wonder what Cashman might do about that Ron Darling: Catcher is setting up inside

Video may be delayed this week, friends. Apparently you can get the regular flu still. My fever hit 105° at one point. I think I met God. I’ll do my best to get my act together and get a video out this week 🙏🏽

@0xabad1dea Using a site with custom scroll handlers is like if you walked into a grocery store and they were like “Hey! We turned the gravity down to 60%!”

repeat after me: your. blog. does. not. need. a. custom. scroll. handler. NOBODY'S. blog. needs. a. custom. scroll. handler. it does not make your site "stand out," it makes your site induce nausea in potential customers

@AdamRackis @Rich_Harris thats so extreme man lol. i like Hooks just fine. maybe my brain just works that way that it immediately clicked better than classes/lifecycle methods. I'd go so far as to say that this was the natural end result of React's ideal programming model. i just also enjoy Svelte.

Is there anyone left outside of Facebook who still likes hooks? Honestly I think we should all chip in and buy @Rich_Harris something nice. Dude was telling us this shit was overly complex *years* before we were ready to hear it.
Henrik Joreteg@HenrikJoreteg

I think React hooks look great in simple demos but cause problems when used in larger apps. You lose the mental model, clarity, and traceability of lifecycle methods. I just don't think the pros outweigh the cons, sorry.

I used d3 as a crutch to do things that should have been solved with simple javascript. If I went back in time, would I recommend that I learn these skills in a different order? Absolutely, but I also may not have had the same passion that kept me interested in a web dev career

Totally agree. My first foray into web dev was sparked by an interest in data viz, and d3 was the library I picked up (without really having touched javascript before). Fast forward a few months and I hacked enough together to convince our company's web dev group to adopt me

I'm just echoing the sentiments of @AdamRackis here. I want people to hear this coming from more voices. It's totally okay to just learn whatever you need to know to get your job done. And you don't "need" to know everything that someone else wants you to know. (Yet haha)

just casually breaking Qlik Sense on a thursday evening trying to make a better developer experience with a new dev-suite extension Qlik Devs: what edit-mode features do you wish Qlik had that would result in a better development experience?

@jbellizzi4 There's alot about the management and creation of master measured and dimensions that bug me, but, not enough to actually think of a problem for you to fix... Let's go with - "make them generally better" :)

@jurajmisina i'm also implementing arrow positioning so you can shift a pixel at a time with arrow keys, or 10 pixels with shift+arrow. also adding multi-select so you can shift+click multiple objects and move them all at the same time

@jurajmisina yea this is the first thing i'm trying to tackle with the tool. just easier moving and sizing of objects on the sheet. right now it's "free edit" mode that positions by the pixel, but i'm also planning to have a grid mode where you can move objects that will snap to the grid
