This young lady just made some breakfast and was too tired to soft boil her egg. She decided she would do the next best thing.
She tried to make a soft boiled egg in the microwave. She took it out and it looked soft and blobby, however as soon as she cut into it, it exploded.
Can anyone tell her what she did wrong and how to avoid this next time?

It doesn't, it shows that the US government's perceived threats of stability do not align with Natos.
The argument being that the US is making things worse not better, so it would be in the best interest of all for the United States to leave Nato.
That countries like Spain that only contributes the bare mininum of spending into the Nato Budget, are not willing to concede things to countries that spend more than it which allows them to live comfortably.
Leaving Nato in this way, because the US believes itself to be giving to much money without any concessions say from Spain or other NATO allies; it leaving Nato is a net good, because they can't use the money they've contributed as leverage against the countries to do something they don't otherwise want to do.
Also, because our Allies claim to have a handle on the situation abroad and don't need US intervention; than we should listen to them. Yes, including Iran as you state or that of Israel. The EU has effectively stated they can handle those issues and they don't need US intervention.
As allies we should trust them on their word. And a departure from Nato, would make us not legally bound to send help to them if they fail to secure regional stability like they claim they're capable of.
That's why it's relevant to the situation at hand.
If America believes that NATO and the EU are not doing enough to handle a perceived threat and goes and acts on it's own accord; than it's not aligned with the original Nato concept. Nor should it be.
Nato was used to blur the lines of countries that each inside of it were extensions of one another. That the needs of all of them out weighed the needs of their own people, even if it became a detriment.
The United States has proven it doesn't believe that, it wants the autonomy to do as it pleases without Nato approval, so it's values don't align with the original purpose of NATO.

Europeans and the American Left do not understand what Spain and the UK's refusal to provide bases to the USA in the war with Iran has done.
They have exposed European fecklessness and unreliability to the American people.
This means things.
