Sophie Farrier has a secret and doesn't know it. Her brother Damon will do anything to keep it that way. When his betrayal is revealed, Sophie embarks on a journey to learn the truth about the death of their parents. But she soon discovers that some secrets should stay buried... "Lowry’s novel is nothing short of a towering masterwork of imagination—sure to satisfy even the most discerning reader, from middle grade to adult. It offers gloriously deep character development; forceful themes [...]; nonstop action and adventure, and rich world-building." -BlueInk Review (starred) "The author’s debut novel is charming and whimsical, featuring a delectable writing style with plenty of subtle humor[...]. The narrative, which resembles a fairy tale both in structure and tone, is full of unexpected depth and follows a surprisingly interwoven, complex arc as it explores topics of change, agency, and growth as both Damon and Sophie struggle to fit into a world they feel uncomfortable in." -Kirkus Reviews #TheGlassFrog is available NOW in paperback and Kindle/ebook formats! #books #fantasyfiction #YAfantasy #BookTwitter #BookReview jbrandonlowry.wordpress.com/links/

@generatemagic @KT_Carlisle Why thank you! I know it's a bit out of style, but I love alliterative, lyrical prose. Why play with words if you're not gonna have a little fun?

Be honest, #writingcommunity How many of you actually use the right-side shift key? I stupidly picked two characters with Zs in their name. So every time Zora comes up here I am putting my left pinky on shift trying to reach Z with my left ring finger. The mental gymnastics...

@jzpitts It is way harder, 100%. Humor relies a ton on tone of voice, facial expressions, gestures, etc., and it can be very difficult to capture those things via text.

Is it just me, or is it more difficult to pull off humor in written form than it is in person or onscreen?

@drterrysimpson Out of curiosity, why isn't Lp(A) testing more common? Or maybe it is and I'm just unaware of it

Paul, a fasting insulin level is not a standardized or reliable clinical marker for cardiovascular risk. It has poor assay reproducibility, no universally accepted cutoff values, and major biological variability. What is validated across decades of outcomes data are ApoB, LDL-C, and non-HDL cholesterol. But that requires seeing patients and reading trials—not selling a diet brand.
Paul Saladino, MD@paulsaladinomd

If your doctor interprets your "cholesterol" without also getting a fasting insulin level or thinking about your underlying metabolic health you need a new doctor.

John McCain was a nice respectable guy who also lost. So was John Kerry. So was Al Gore and Bob Dole. The fact that Donald Trump, a disreputable moron, was able to narrowly win two elections against unpopular Democrats doesn’t mean “disreputable moron” is the only possible option

It’s one thing to dislike Bad Bunny, but to pretend to like Kid Rock is just outrageous. I don’t believe he has any genuine fans based on the music.
