@TheTeacherWins I've retired but had the back to school dream too. I was at my secondary school in Edinburgh as a teacher but my old teachers were there telling me to go and wash my make up off & make sure my skirt was the correct length. Where in my memory has that been stored? Happy Sunday 🥰

@pdcornish76 I cannot match the lady on here who's done 60 years but after 45 years of teaching plus all the years of being a pupil, I've retired at the end of August. I've loved (nearly) every minute of it. No more data cuts, parents eves 😀but sadly no more students or colleagues 😥

I think I am about to start my 28th year in education. 29th if you include my PGCE year. And actually, the pattern of my life has been set by the rhythm of the academic year when I started reception as a rising 5...and I am now a rising 50. I have had no year out. No gap year.

@LeeBraganza I've been through my 'pictures' folder and deleted lots of photos. Also re maned some of them. Also checked my diary to see the date. Now going to switch the kettle on and forage food.

Really productive day of work. I made a folder called 2025.2026. I also made another folder called Autumn One.

@LeeBraganza Local charity shop has rails of free school uniform. Clothes are badged (or no badge) so fine for local schools. Many schools run uniform 'shops' for clothing & prom outfits throughout the year so aren't September specific. If your school doesn't, why not start one?

Primary uniform needs to be affordable. We need to bin off these specialist shops. You should be able to get it from a local supermarket and it to last. Also super comfy for them to wear for most of the day.

@cix_stormrage Whatever does this mean? It's not a term I've heard. Is it a 'cheeky' way of referencing neurodivergence? It sounds undignified and disrespectful. Perhaps it's 'bants' Whatever it is, please let's avoid it.

I really hate the term “neurospicy”. It trivialises something that can have a deep impact on people’s lives.

@llewelyn20 We've been to Marks and Spencer today to buy undies just in case an ambulance has to suddenly take one of us to hospital. Hideous example of a day out (both M and S and the ambulance trip).

Well I just went to sort my shirts and trousers for work and just opening the wardrobe caused me to have a lie down. It's been a long summer.

@kateowbridge One of our favourite places. We visit at least once a year! Safe for children-no traffic area by the beach. Day trip to @RSPBArne. Walk up to the castle across cliffs to lighthouse. Look for dolphins, cormorants and shags (always a moment to wind up the kids) Fish and chips -yum

@kateowbridge Worked with colleague whose grandfather was Chindit. With personal letters and diaries colleague spent ages searching for, and finding, grandfather's medals. Turns out he was a hero in many ways including being a fab Grandpa. We wrote the man into our RS unit about war and peace

The grandad I never knew as he died when mum was little. John Clarke. Fought in Burma alongside the Ghurkas. He was a geordie, a redhead, and had an incredibly strong faith. Remembering him and all the others for whom VJ Day was a big deal.

@HWarlow I have a card from OH with 'A Moment' on the front. It was our anniversary. He's not a demonstrative man and we found each other second time around. This image of a moment (and his written words) sum us up perfectly. It is one of my most treasured possessions.

@RevRichardColes I'm a bit 'funny' about ferries, ships, boats; apprehensive about them sinking a la ro-ro, nauseous, claustrophobic. Not a good experience overall. OH would like the Santander Bay of Biscay whale spotting trip plus the Hebridean sea bird, whale, wildlife adventure. A dilemma.
