It was an honor to attend Thursday night’s Night of Champions event in Savannah in support of the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society. The evening celebrated the true Champions. The Champions honored that evening, including individuals with Down syndrome, strengthen their workplaces and our community through their hard work, talents, and contributions. Their success stories were truly inspiring. Each Champion reminded us that meaningful employment is about more than a job. It is about dignity, purpose, opportunity, and recognizing the value every person brings. Congratulations to all of the 2026 Champions and to the past champions who were in attendance. Your example is powerful, and your achievements deserve to be celebrated. I also want to recognize Dr. Yancy Ford, who received the Presidential Award for his dedication to creating meaningful opportunities for all district employees.
